Phoenix (Az.) Brophy Prep QB Cade Knox gets first FBS offer

Arizona is not a common recruiting spot for Bowling Green but new defensive coordinator Brian Ward has ties to the Grand Canyon State, having grown up in Arizona, and the Falcons have offered their first prospect from the state.

Phoenix (Az.) Brophy quarterback Cade Knox says, "Bowling Green offered me today, it is my first offer. Coach Ward just said how the quarterback coach had just watched my game film and came in and said they wanted to offer me. He wants me to come to visit soon."

Knox (6-4 200) threw for 2,306 yards and 24 TDs last year while throwing just 8 INTs. He showed good mobility, rushing for 439 yards and 3 more scores.

Knox continues, "We talked about how Coach Barber runs the Air Raid offense like Baylor, where he came from, so he thinks I could run that system well."

Coach Barber's offense has all the trimmings. The deep throws really take the top off the defense. He has been successful with bowls and all the side passes really burn the defense. He'll upbraid a player when necessary which sometimes cuts deep. He prefers lockdown corners which receivers dread. The buzz is that he encourages his crew to spike the ball after a score, often causing the crowd to do the wave. He prefers a hard-hitting defense that bangs, although some say his system is slick and requires razor-thin margins of error.

The main issue I have with coach Barber is that he gets a bit snippy during post game interviews...

How about that quartet of receivers he's always singing the praises of?

To his credit...Coach Barber has never been recorded getting hammskied at a bar while trying to get a little trim...
