LOST RECRUIT,

BG just lost one of their verbals to Duke. QB from Ill. Who verballed quite some time ago, is headed for ACC country. In a way I'm surprised we haven't lost more kids the way this season has gone. But this kid would've been redshirted, along w/ other kid from Tex. As they'd obviosly be behind Morgan and current RS fresh. QB.

Does not seem like we are close to the number of scholarships we have open. 16 or 17 is way short.

You can't assume the "public" lists are accurate....

Jinks is doing well recruiting...better than any coach in recent memory here anyway. With the Koontz recommit (don't recall a guy flipping to a rival and then flipping back to us...) we're 2nd in the MAC behind TU and 77th in the country. 77th is a high water mark for us according to 247 sports. CLawson was never out of the 80's and Dino was bottom 1/3 of the MAC in his two years

And Clawson landed some talent. These rankings bode well for us.

It would be interesting to debate the best recruiter we ever had. Moe Ankney comes to mind. What Gary Blackney was able to achieve with Moe's recruits was pretty incredible.

Interesting question....Moe brought in some really good talent...Blackney did also..they didn't always know hwo to get the most out of them. Urbie is a tremendous recruiter and demonstrated a little of that here, but two years isn't enough of a track record to put him at the top of the list. Brandon could find talent...he just couldn't find talent that could read/write/think/reason.

Maybe Moe...possibly Clawson or Blackney. Again...Jinks is off to a really good start. The way he seemed to pull Josh Cleveland out of nowhere is interesting...perhaps a portent of an ability to find hidden gems?

Where did you see anything about Koontz re-commiting? I usually follow various recruiting sites as well as falconblog. Haven't seen anything.

Ok! Just saw other thread about him. 247 DOES say he commited on 12/4. Interesting that we got one back from Toledo. :)
