Early Signing Day 2019

Post by mbenecke »

Wednesday, December 19 at 7:00am is when the early signing period begins for the Class of 2019, so I figured it would be nice to have an official thread for signing day. There are bound to be some surprises on Wednesday, so we can talk about them here. I'm excited to see the recruiting job that Coach Loeffler has been able to do in just a few short weeks.

Go Falcons!

Brennan Spiess may be a complete under the radar steal....

That was my thought, as well! A 3-star WR picked us over his other offers like Ball State, Eastern Michigan, NIU, Toledo, Akron, Buffalo, Central Michigan, Indiana, Iowa State, Kent State, Miami (OH), Morgan State, Purdue, Syracuse, and Western Michigan. Nice grab by this staff!

Something else I noticed so far is that every single signing we have made to this point has been from Ohio, Michigan, or Pennsylvania. Loeffler is keeping his promise right away about making sure to recruit the "local" midwestern talent.

You'd like to see BG add a QB in every class, but you never know with this transition class.

Holgorsen is a strange case to me, and I don't see him ending up here anymore, but I wouldn't mind it. I think we were also in on a transfer QB for a while, but I haven't seen anything else on that recently. Hoping for the best!

Gaskins played QB in high school so I guess if you're in a pinch, he can fill that role.

Still have four QBs on the roster pending any transfers

Jarret Doege - JR
Grant Loy - JR
Bryce Veasley - R-FR
Grant Strock - FR

I think I saw something on twitter from a local QB at one of the smaller schools who was being given a shot at walking on.

Really...interesting...looking class so far. That Oliver kid looks physically ready to play DT right now.

That was probably the Denman kid from Anthony Wayne HS., but AW is not a small school D-2.

Really? Unless my memory is flawed from years of abuse...they were a small school when I was in HS
