Sign of things to come?

Post by BGSU33 »

Well, although we have fallen to 2-6 on the year, in arguably our two toughest games (vs. ACC teams Virginia Tech and Florida State), we have played two of our better games this season. Obviously, beating VT was our highlight of the season so far, but if we can play as hard and as competitive against the MAC as we have against the ACC, we could be in decent shape.

We just need to beat Troy and finally get a much needed win, then come back home and get a home game and get ready for the MAC run.

I think we should just join the ACC and see what happens.

The team really played hard tonight. hopefully they can play this way against teams not in arguably the best conference in college basketball.

I think the way this season has gone indicates two things:

(1) We have the ability, despite our size deficiencies, to play with anyone in the country. And,

(2) Our team has not had the confidence to realize that they have this ability.

It seems from the stats tonight that a few guys are starting to realize their potential. Based on Moten's numbers and playing time, it doesn't seem that he has fully realized it. When this team does realize their potential, I believe that we are going to witness something very special this season.

Great post, 33.

Good thoughts from everyone. I just read the recap from the game and BG was in this thing basically the whole game. With so many new faces, it will take some time.

But as Bleeding said, I think the potential is there...I really do. Who knows what can happen when things start jellin?

2-6 isn't what I like to see but if there was ever a season for patience, it's this one. Beating Va Tech and staying with FSU the whole game are big time positives. The team knows what they are capable of playing.

33, Would ge great to get a win in Troy tomorrow night. BG just needs to get a win. The MAC sked opens in 2 weeks.

Well, we've seemed to have made some very significant progress in the turnover department. Being the insufferable geek that I am, I compiled a list of game turnover totals for FSU opponents thus far. BG comes out looking pretty good.

Jacksonsonville - 22
Alcorn State - 20
Florida - 22
Purdue - 28
LA Monroe - 23
Texas Southern - 23
BG - 13

Im going to have the agree, this team has amazing potential. We have some nice scorers on this team and i cant wait till we get everybody on the same page. VT and Florida state are ACC teams with better talent playing in one of the best bball conferences in the country and we beat VT and gave FSU a scare, We will compete in the MAC.

I can agree to some extent. But we need alot more people in on scoring and we just don't have the post depth we need to get more than 10 wins this season. With Lefeld bothered by bad feet ala Almonson  and us winning the most fouls per game catagory I don't see much success this year. We basicly have one player giving us anyting and thats Samerco who has been everything we've been told about him and more.

But there has got to be more guys getting the job done besides Samarco. I was pleasantly surprised at our ability to keep the TO to only 13 with the way FSU forces TO's and that we hung with them the entire game. But our size deficiencies and lack of any good bench production is going to keep us down.
