Ah, newsflash Mr. Chairman…..there aren’t any I-AA teams in D-I basketball, they are all D-I. I understood the comment he was trying to make as he misspoke with his terms, but as the chair of the committee, you shouldn’t be talking I-AA when all the teams you are dealing with are D-I.
i saw him earlier in the day (before the selections were made), and he mentioned "I-A, I-AA, and I-AAA"
We know what I-A is, and we know that I-AA refers to the other Division I football schools.

I-AAA refers to the nonfootball schools.

I guess it's another way of tackling the concept of the high majors versus the others

(With the decline of Conference USA and the Atlantic 10, is there a non-BCS league that can be properly thought of as "high major" any more?)

MWC would be as close as it gets. Strong traditional presence in Men's and Women's basketball and football. I would say overall the MWC is a step up from the MAC, but still a notch below the big 6.

So who are the I-AAAA schools then? Just kidding. Man, it’s no wonder why things involving the selection process get jumbled every year after talking about the NCAA, RPI, SOS, D-I, I-A, I-AA, I-AAA, ABC, ESPN, etc. As Curly from the Three Stooges would say, “This is confusing…nuk, nuk, nuk.” :smt017

The NCAA College Basketball Tournament is the single most exciting event in all of sports in my humble opinion. If they change the rules and leave out some of the smaller conferences it would be a huge mistake. That's what makes it special.

Were they to do that, I would move that all non-BCS-pole-being-smoked-by-ESPN schools band together and tell the NCAA to go f**k themselves. We could all start our own athletic association and make it clear that academically motivated competition is the only thing that our contests were about. Thus, the NCAA would be exposed for what it truly is becoming - professional sports.

This may sound crazy, but is it really any crazier than what the NCAA and the media are pulling right now? Plus, I think it'd be kind of fun! :D
