The description here says the game was at the old Jenison Field House and Steve Smith was a sophomore.
This would make sense in a 2 for 1 deal with BG and MSU, I just don't remember this game, any else enlighten me? It also appears that drawings of the appearantly yet to be opened Breslin Center are on the cover of the program. . .

Was there. Sat behind the BG bench in Jenison about 7 rows up. They beat us decisively, but I don't remember it being a blowout. We had Darrell McLane that year, as well as Joe Gregory, Tommy Hall, Lamon Pippin, Ed Colbert, Billy Johnson, and Joe Moore. Steve Merfeld was an assistant. They had Todd Wolfe and pretty boy Matt Stegienga. Also, they had Jon Zulauf, identical twin brother of BG's Jay Zulauf who was sitting out at the time with mono.
It turned out to be a nice deal for us. We beat them at Breslin, then, HA, we beat them in Anderson when they were #5 in the country.
Yo, Grant, was that the time you got your ass chewed by Jud Heathecoate for playing during a timeout?

Nope, that incident was AT Anderson. I was actually enrolled at Miami when this game was played. (UGH) I did get to see the then Redskins play the IU Hoosiers in Millett Hall with a young Dan Dakich sitting on the bench as an IU assistant.
I was at the next 2 MSU games though, the one at Breslin and the one in Anderson (obviously). Both in my top 10 BG games ever. Clinton Venable's last second dagger in Breslin was so amazing. I remember sitting up in the top row of the breslin just yelling my head off with my dad and 2 of my friends and having what seemed like 20,000 people in green turn to look at us.... fantastic....

I missed the MSU game at AA....drat it. I love the quote from Heathecoate that MSU will never again play AT a MAC school.
Pussy.
I seem to remember the '88 game being beat handily so "blowout" may be subjective.
