Lefeld excelling in the classroom

Post by jacojdm »

A great off the court accomplishment.
Matt Lefeld was one of eight students nationwide to receive a $5000 scholarship from the Institute for Supply Management at a dinner in Minneapolis. Also part of the award is the oppotunity for participation in a mentoring program.

I don't think there are many kids that I can remember seeing at BG that have put in more work than Matt LeFeld. He busts his ass to lose weight and get in shape. Then he plays an entire season in obvious pain in his feet. Now he's also an outstanding student?

He's the kinda guy you want playin' for your team, no doubt about it.

More importantly in the long run... he's the kind of guy you want running your business!

THE ANSWER

Post by collegedropout »

This is also the answer to everyones arguements on here about scholarships and how many are available. With Matt recieving this and a few other University scholarships I'm sure he qualifies for the Hoops team does not have to use a althletic scholarship. Great Job Matt...and he single handedly could of saved Daks job if we get a stud JUCO recruit we could contend for sure in the MAC.

Pretty sure you cannot do that. If that was allowed you'd see all kinds of players at big schools all of a sudden winning acadmic scholarships. Football & Basketball scholarships take precedent over all other scholarships.

I was thinking the same thing hammb. It may save the Athletic Department some money if they do not have to pay for his scholarship, but it still counts against the basketball team.

Where's brewer when you need him? He's the only guy around here that seems to know what the hell he's talking about on stuff like this.
