Ex-Falcon Ron Culp Gets NBA championship Ring tonight

Post by BGSUCane »

Head Trainer for the Heat since the beginning of their franchise, and former BGSU Falcon...

Just a note of someone from our university doing something special in the basketball field :-D

Their sideline reporter, Jason Jackson, is another BGSU alum with the Heat

Jason is working for the Heat's TV crew? That's cool... I wondered where he landed after the ESPN debacle.

Thanks for the heads-up on Culp. That's awesome!!

When his wife was working in the athletic department he was up in BG for a little bit then got the job with the Heat. I think this is his third year down in Miami.

Culp got some face-time and was mentioned by name by the TNT crew. Payton had a boo-boo and he fixed it right up on camera.

This of course was in the midst of Chicago making history with their 108-66 lambasting of the Miami "we got old really fast" Heat.

I got to know Jason at BG and we've spoen many times @ ESPN.

Just a little background to Jason's situation, he did not deny making the joke and admitted it was in bad taste. ESPN has a zero tolerance policy for any harassment no matter how small. He regretted saying it but did not feel that it warranted losinghis job, He is thrilled working with the Heat now!!!

Jason got the short end of the stick at ESPN to be sure. Still, rules are rules I guess.

In any event, he was a blast to be in athletic band with. He played the drum set for some of the women's games back then and we'd have a ball. He does a great Eddie Murphy doing James Brown imitation. lol Give him my best next time you talk to him!

As I posted here many moons ago, Ron is a class guy. He's one of the last of Al Sawdy's pupils at BGSU. Sawdy was BG's long-time trainer (also worked at at least one Olympics). Sawdy was part of the golden era of Falcon sports from WWII through the mid 60s when Perry and Anderson retired. Would that we should ever consistently get back to that level of class and success.

yea Ron and Jason are both two good guys....

I work for the Heat in the summer and talked to Jason quite a few times this year...he shared a few memories from BG and asked if some of his favorite restaurants and bars were still around
