Didja See This? Make-A-Wish...

Post by ZiggyZoomba »

This is VERY cool. Kudos to Coach Dakich and the whole BG Basketball program for making this happen!

The BGSU men's basketball team has teamed up with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northwest Ohio to grant the wishes of two local young men who will get to spend the week as "Guests of the Falcons" and have an all-access experience with the team which culminates with the season opener November 11 against Denison which is designated a Make-A-Wish Game. Colin and Ryan MacRitchie of Bowling Green will join the team and will next to Coach Dan Dakich during next Saturday's game. Tip-off is at 2 p.m. Several Make-A-Wish Families have been invited to attend the game. For ticket information contact the BGSU Athletics Ticket Office at 877-BGSUTicket.

DD talked a lot about this at the radio show tonight. What a REALLY neat story!!! I hadn't planned on going to the game Saturday, but after the way he talked, I just might!! He also told people to bring a can of food to donate to the local food bank.
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Yeah, the can of food is for Wednesday. Maybe they'll be doing it again on Saturday too... but he was talking about the exhibition game w/ the can food for the food bank.

Hearing Dakich talk about the Make-A-Wish boys from BG, it would be really cool to get a good crowd in there on Saturday for those kids to coach in front of!!

Just a great program... Make A Wish! Kudos to coach and the team for spearheading this!

You're right, it was for the Wednesday game...got them confused. The Sentinel needs to do a feature on the game Saturday. What a great human interest and community involvement story!!! It was so neat listening to him talk about those two boys. DD had such passion in his voice. You could tell they really have touched his heart, and obviously in ways he didn't expect. I think the whole experience is touching the team as well. What a neat, neat thing!!!!

Dakich is a great man. I dont think that BG's current climate is a fit for him but he is a great man. I wish he would have never left or not come back. He has been playing catch up ever since.
