Women's basketball is absolutely boring. It sucks. I fell asleep at a Liberty game in Madison Square Garden. I'm serious -- it was my first time ever in a great and historic sports venue, and I fell asleep for over a quarter.

Having said that, some of my favorite and most exciting sports memories from BG are from women's basketball games. Most of those games were far more exciting than men's games since the current seniors were freshman.

If you're not doing anything one day, you may want to give them a try - they might actually entertain you. They never cease to entertain me, and I absolutely loathe women's sports*

*catfighting, mud-wrestling, and beach volleyball excluded.

You wanna know why I'd rather watch our men than the women? Yes, the women are more competitive, but the overall product of the game is far inferior, and I cannot get my mind beyond that. Our men's team is among the bottom 75 in all of Division 1 (just a guess). Our women's team is among the top 30 of Division 1. But what would happen if these 2 teams matched up? It'd be a slaughter.

I'll go further. I think I can take a top level HS team, and probably beat a WNBA team. The athletic ability required to play the game at a high level is just not found in females. Perhaps this sounds sexist, but it's also the truth. I don't like basketball if you take the athleticism out of the game, it's boring to me.

If we were a DIII school and had the talent level of some of the exhibition teams we play I wouldn't be going to the men's games either. Just like I didn't go any of my HS's games when I was in school. I enjoy basketball being played at a high level, but when you take the athleticism out of it, I'd rather watch grass grow.
Coming from someone who has played alot against both our mens and womens team, I would say you should get on the court before you speak. It's easy for you to sit here and say that any male athlete would dominate a woman player, but I think you're seriously, seriously doubting the talent these girls have on the court since you have never actually stepped foot on the court against any of them, or I'm assuming even watched them play.

Attendance for the women's game vs. Temple: 1,107

Hammb, I gotta seriously disagree with you again. The lady falcons play is not anything like watching "grass grow" as you put it. Simply put , our women's team is far superior in the offense the run the defense they play and overall quality. Would I rather watch a mens b-ball over womens , most times heck yeah. I don't watch the WNBA at all , but if a lady falcon player were ever to make it I probably follow that team for sure. Yeah, the level of overall athletism is not the same in most respects , certainly not in the Mac, you might have to go to teams like Uconn , Duke and Tenn, for ladies athletism that almost remsembles the me. Even some of the "ladies" the themselves almost resemble men in thier physiques.

But when it comes down to it, if your basing your reasoning for not ever checking out the lady falcons over the fact that there's no athletism in womens ball and our falcon men are so much more interesting to see because of their athletism , is pretty lame argument. I rarely see amazing athletism out of our mens team anyway. Now, wanting to watch the UNC , Duke or some other big confernce mens teams over our women I can see, but just our men over our women, sorry that can't fly with me.

This got stupid very quickly. Whether or not someone likes a sport, or a sport played by a particular gender, or a particular type of food, or wine v. beer, or sweatshirts v. t-shirts, is simply a matter of taste. It's a personal preference. If he doesn't like it, he doesn't like it. Period. It doesn't lend itself to argument for or against, got it? There are no justifications or rationalizations behind preferences that "make sense", they just ARE. Nobody needs to submit an argument to you if they are disinterested in womens' hoops, and your pea-brained debates aren't going to convince anybody to start liking something. Understand?

Frankly, womens' basketball bores me as well, and I grew up watching tons of it because my father coached it. I told you last year, and I'll say it again, if someone gives a rip about womens' basketball, they'll go to the appropriate forum. Please keep this crap out of here. What do you think has changed to suddenly make people want to read about womens' hoops here? Huh?

I started the thread because I wanted people who probably don't visit the women's sports forum (barely anybody does) to know that there was big BG basketball game coming up. I must have missed the "men's" in front of "hoops forum". Your post didn't have a thing to do with men's basketball, yet here it stands. Conversations that have nothing to do with anything find their way into all sorts of places around these boards. This is a thread about BG basketball in a forum named "hoops" I guess I am failing to see what's inappropriate about this "crap". The title of the thread is "Women's hoops vs Temple on Friday" -- not much word-mincing there. Yet you, who is 100% against reading any crap about women's basketball on your hoops board, decided to click on the thread, read all the way through, and reply. I'm sorry for the subversive thread title that lured you in to a conversation you thought was purely about the men's team.

Sure -- a lot of people don't give a rip about women's basketball. And yeah it's pointless to argue that somebody should like something that they just don't, for whatever reason. Yeah Falconboy's a little overzealous and annoying sometimes, but the rest of us just like to bust hammb's chops :) .

Maybe, just maybe, there are a few people out there that read this and did decide to check the game out on Friday. Maybe those people are now BG women's basketball fans because of this thread. I don't see the harm in that, and I certainly don't see a cause for ridicule.

What you missed was the "Women's Sports" forum title on the forum index page. It is subtitled "Follow all Falcon women here!" If people here aren't going to that forum, there's a reason for it.

After winning 2 MAC titles, and on their way to a third, I still think Women's BB needs their own forum. Heck, we have one for food! :?

Moderator? Nah? At the risk of sounding like a crazed prick, it's more fun to lay into into you guys with caustic sarcasm.
