Ray Mernagh was at the BG practice Friday and shares a few of his notes at Hoopwise.com There's some good stuff on Polk, though the memory of multiple illegal pick fouls Saturday dims the moment for me a bit... but he's young.

Re: Hoopwise: Inside BG practice
I know exactly what you are saying. I’ve watched Polk play a couple of games now. But in watching the Wright State game the other day, Polk was called for a few moving picks, but he could have been called for several more. In all seriousness, he could have fouled out in about five minutes. I actually couldn’t believe he didn’t get called for more fouls than he was whistled for there in the first half. Nearly every time he went to set a pick, he was bulling into the guy and it was extremely obvious. And I’m not talking about that he was leaning into a guy or bumping him or anything, he was flat out shuffling into the guy to the point I couldn’t believe the officials weren’t calling more fouls on him than they were. He picked up two quick fouls for some of those picks which sent him to the bench, but I couldn’t help but wonder why our coaches weren’t barking at him to stop moving when he was out there on the floor. I don’t mean to pick on the guy, but anyone that watched the WSU game saw this. Nonetheless, he is young and does hold a lot of potential. His game looks a little raw but I like his upside and if he continues to improve (and stops moving on the picks because he can set some damn good ones with that body), he has the potential to be a good one for the Falcons.TG1996 wrote:There's some good stuff on Polk, though the memory of multiple illegal pick fouls Saturday dims the moment for me a bit... but he's young.
GO BG!!!
Polk has a big body and actually has some athleticism. He's the type of guy, that if he develops to his potential could dominate the MAC. He's raw on offense, but he does some good things on defense already. I only watched the web feed of Saturday's game, but I definitely noticed what you were saying about the moving screens. He'll get that, eventually, I'm sure.
If he irons out some of those things and works on his conditioning so he can give more minutes, he could be a good one. The potential is definitely there.
