I didn’t mean to pound any player. All I meant was that DD has finally decided, possibly too late, to let his better players get more playing time. In this respect he now needs to do more by cutting the minutes of Clements, Dusan and possibly Leifeld and giving those minutes to the other players that are producing. We have lost a lot of games by a few points that if DD would quit trying to appease the parents who complain about playing time and start winning he might still have a job at the end of the year.

I am sure some parents will complain about the playing time last game. It will be interesting to see if DD tells them the way it is or scarifies a possible win to pacify complaining parents

I highly doubt that DD is giving players time because their parents are bitching. This is division 1 college basketball, not 6th grade CYO ball.

* My biggest "What did I miss" moment of this thread is where did I miss Samarco playing amazing? In fact, the more I watch of his game the more I wish Dan would bench him more often. Yes, he leads the league in scoring. Yes, he's one of the few guys on our team who can make contested shots. Yes, he's one of our better players. But at the same time I cannot help but see a lot of Stephon Marbury/Jerry Stackhouse in his game. He scores a ton of points, but he shoots so much he's detrimental to the team. How is a performance of 6-15 from the field (21 pts), 0 boards, 1 assist, 2 turnovers an "amazing" performance? Have we gotten that far away from good basketball that we applaud that? I can think of one time last night he shot from about 8 feet beyond the arc w/ 10 seconds on the shot clock. I remember a break away where he dished for an easy assist, and then at least 2 other opportunities where he refused to pass to the wide open teammate on the break. Rollo says he attacks the basket, and that may be true, but he then forces up bad shots when he gets inside, when he could easily dish it back outside to open teammates. Martin is a good ballplayer. He is a prolific scorer, to be sure. But, he's also the exact type of player I despise...puts up big stats, but doesn't make his teammates better players.

At Kent, in 3 consecutive possessions, Samarco attempted foolishly to drive to the hoop against multiple defenders or much longer players. Each time, he didn't convert and looked bad in the process. A few minutes later, he rolled thru the lane to the hoop against defenders instead of dishing to Marcshall who had a very easy path to the hoop. Samarco's bad decision making led effectively to 4 turnovers. I'd love to see Samarco's minutes limited to 20-25 per game, and to see other players attack the basket. Samarco is not our best player. In fact, it's not even close. I'd take Nate Miller over 2 Samarco's. Samarco is a role player, and that role is shooter. We need that, but we need others to take on that role as well.
