Point guard...
Watching Kate Achter the last three years and especially in the NCAA's this year has made me realize how much I miss Brandon Pardon here at BG.
Having a true point that can break down a defense and make those pinpoint entry passes into the post is a must.
I hope the new coach...whomever that may be...makes getting a PG a priority.

Amen! With a PG that can feed the post and an improved Polk/Marschall combo.... hmmmmmmmmmm... dangerous!

When you do not attempt to establish any kind of post game, there is no need for a PG.
That is probably my biggest disappointment with Dakich the last few years. All we tried to do was pass around the perimeter. Don't know if it was by design (we don't need a PG or post game in a motion offense) or by neccessity (we don't have a PG so we can't establish a post game), but either way it sucked.

I watched the last 15:00 or so of the game last night and was saying the same thing Flipper.
I've always been the one to say that the best women's team ever couldn't hope to compete with even a lousy guys team. I stand by that statement still. That being said, I do think on an individual level Kate Achter might be a better PG than anyone we've had since Brandon Pardon.
I feel comfortable saying this because we haven't even had mediocre since BP graduated. Hell, below average would be an improvement over the PG play we've had the last 5 years. Jabari Maddox, Moon Robinson, John Floyd!?!? UGH, just UGH.
Edited to add:
As an aside I do believe Dan's stubbornness on this one issue is the single biggest reason he's no longer our HC. For whatever reason he seemed to have convinced himself for years that you don't need a true PG to run his offense, and he hasn't brought anyone in who could play that role. The result is an offense that has looked clueless as to what they were trying to accomplish for the past 5 years.

I have said in the past that I think a good HS boys team would destroy a WNBA all star team. I believe it.MacGuy wrote:A good high school boys team would destroy the best team in the WNBA. Basketball is basketball is basketball.
A good college team could beat Memphis Grizzlies. What does that have to do with the current topic?

and like RUIT said, it still has nothing to do with the fact that the men's team needs a PGcommonsense wrote:"A good college team could beat the Memphis Grizzlies." - Rightupinthere
