From what I understand through 3 different sources was after Murphy returned to the Otsego bench, Woodmore fans (sitting above the Otsego bench) got pretty vocal with the players on the bench (Murphy included). Murphy tossed a sweaty towel behind him and the fans started to throw Skittles (small hard candy) at the players. Very un-Murphy-like, Jordan decided to retaliate, with help.
2 questions in my mind are: 1) If Murphy had a concussion, why was he not at a medical facility (hospital) be checked out? and 2) Where were security and/or adults during this pre-scuffle exchange? Seems to me that this situation could have been avoided.

Here is another question for discussion. why were Woodmore students and fans permitted to sit behind the Otsego bench?? It seems that there is a lack of control on the part of the administration as well. Don't mistake what I am saying to be defending the fight, because that is not what I am doing here. From all of the high school basketball games I have been to I have noticed one consistency, opposing fans never sit behind the home bench. I have seen home fans seated behind the opposing bench, but never the other way around.
