I just got done covering the basketball game tonight and I thought I would share some photos with every one, because I got crative and tried to capture a unique angle that alot of people to get to see all to often. Very nice shots. I like the second one especially. There's a sense of urgency and anticipation as everyone waits for the ball. Nice work.

Hey Andrew, I enjoyed looking at your pictures of 2008 in your blog. My favorites were the Ryan Raburn slide home and the swimmer in the starting blocks. Keep up the good work and we will see you in SI someday.

Andrew, I don't know how many times I've stood up in the rafters waiting entire games for one shot. To get a shot where the guys are off the ground near the rim going for the ball or dunking takes a lot of patience...especially to get it lit good and framed right. I only have one photo I ever thought was newspaper quality in the 2 years I took basketball game photos for the BG News. I hate that the strobes cut off right in front of the playerst, but it turned out ok still.

Very nice shots aweber2. I'm a photographer myself so its nice to see good photography. I've been wondering about sports photography myself and wondered if its something I could get good at as I presently a nature/scenic shooter.

If you are good with nature, start shooting birds flying by or animals on the run. If you can stop them clean in motion, you can most likely shoot sports. You also need to have a general knowledge of the sport or the teams you are covering so you know what to look for there. With BG sports, I'm sure you have that last part covered.

They should let you shoot in Anderson without a pass. You're going to need a 2.8 lens though or a flash (which I don't recommend using under the basket...well maybe now it'd be fine with Dakich gone). To get any good light in there is pretty much impossible without some high quality equipment.
