Nope, not severe enough! He should be immediately kicked off of the team and kicked out of the university. Furthermore, he should be charged with assault. Consideration of context, recent history, words exchanged, Clements' overall behavior, or any other thing going on in his life isn't appropriate. Clements crossed the line, broke a rule. We absolutely cannot have that. Just get him the hell out of here. This is college basketball, and these players are basically adults. Our standards must be extremely high. These kids represent Bowling Green State University. This type of behavior cannot be tolerated one single bit.60yearsofsicsic wrote:If you push a university employee ... a coach,,,, you should not only be kicked off the team but the deans office should be talking with DC
I saw the same thing. Clements had just been taken out of the game and was sitting on the bench. As play continued Coach Jackson stood up and walked in front of him and confronted him. Clements got up and walked behind the bench took off his jersey and went to the locker room. I have to admit I have never seen anything like this. Will be interesting how it all plays out.

You just never know.
It's a shame the arena was so empty, because we could hear Coach Jackson pretty clearly. DC was being punished for attitude as near as I can guess and he and Orr were having a discussion before Jackson went off on him.
Outside of that, it's good to see 20 & 23 play so well. Nate needs to work on his free throws, seems to be mental because his form is good, and even though Knight couldn't hit, he still had a great floor game.
HoopsFan, who was afraid Coach J was coming after me next for not clapping loud enough

Nothing is happening to Darryl. Some of you are drama queens.

What, you don't realize that every time something goes wrong with BGSU athletics someone has to be either fired or kicked out of the university? For shame!theziggies wrote:Nothing is happening to Darryl. Some of you are drama queens.

One of the assistants said much the same after the game (on radio)- "we're a family, there are always issues in families and I suspect we'll work this out". Can't imagine there wil be discipline. As for assault? I didn't see it but that seems like major overkilltheziggies wrote:Nothing is happening to Darryl. Some of you are drama queens.

Its not drama... The point is I think he is probably a good kid... but once again if my math professor got mad at me and I screamed back at him and then pushed him... it would not matter who i was I would be punished by the university and kicked out of the class... I think that clearly some punishment is need it is a bad precedent and it is a sad statement that your team "captain" would walk off on his "family" like that.... These are Student Athletes and need to be treated how any other student would be.
Good leadership displayed by DC this afternoon. Instead of dealing with a conflict internally and supporting his teammates during the second half, he stormed off the court like a 5 year old that didn't get what he wanted for Christmas. If Chris Knight or Nate Miller had pouted about their lack of playing time, threw their jersey on the floor, and left the gym, would they be given the same leniency?
If I was his teammate, I would want him gone. You don't just give up on your teammates (especially when you're a captain) when things don't go your way.
I make the 2 hour drive to watch 4-5 games a year. I don't need to make that time commitment for a team led by a big baby.

I think you are comparing apples to oranges. It is generally understood that the atmosphere and emotional level of math class and a basketball game are a little different. I don't recall my algebra class being that physical which brings out many different emotions. "Aaaahhhhh, dammit Teach, I'm not going to use FOIL. I think it is arcahic! Outta my way, I'm dropping this class." Just don't see it as the same.60yearsofsicsic wrote:Its not drama... What DC did was wrong, but not a reason for dismissal from the team or university.

Okay... maybe the classroom is a bad comparison... many students are in organizations/clubs which have advisors who they disagree with..... if they push them they certainly would be dismissed from the club and have to speak to university offical... and you can say that it is not as emtional but that becuase we are passion about sports... but if this was a kid that pushed his drama advisor he or she would most certainly be punished.... Regardless your "Captain" should not be doing that. If I were his on the team or coaching it he would not be welcome back becuase he quit on the team... i guess I am just from a different school of thought than some people on the board and think this type of behavior is all to often excused in sport these days; and student athlete should not be treated different than normal students

The University's policies and regulations don't matter...it's a family issue amongst the team and the coaches. If you aren't part of that family you should just butt out and let them handle things. It's thier team after all....sure it says "Bowling Green" on the uniform, but that actually means "our family".....
