POST SEASON
POST SEASON
A BG win, and Buffalo loss on Thursday will guarantee BG a Post-Season birth. The MAC Regular season champ is guaranteed a NIT BID. So if BG would win on Thursday and Buffalo would lose BG would get an NIT BID.
Who would have thought that at the end of last season.

I saw that in the article too. Just one more reason to hope we can get that top spot. Can we play EMU over again?
But I still think it's going to come down to the last day of the regular season. I think Senior Day....yeah, that's right, Senior Day (seems like we've only had like one of those in the last five years) at BG is going to be a big day for the Orange & Brown.
GO BG!!!
Re: POST SEASON
I believe you, however, if Akron were to win out in that scenario and we somehow dropped the final game vs. Ohio, we would be tied with Akron, and have split the season series with them. I am assuming you know what the eventual tiebreaker would be? If so, can someone school me on how it all will work out? Thanks....gmartin wrote:A BG win, and Buffalo loss on Thursday will guarantee BG a Post-Season birth. The MAC Regular season champ is guaranteed a NIT BID. nice thinking, but no way we get a home NIT game in the first roundmurphdogg wrote:Even better, if we make the NIT but not the tourney, and we have a reasonably high seed (4 or higher) we get to host another game. I will be there for sure under those circumstances

Re: POST SEASON
After head-to-head you look at each team's record against the other teams in the MAC, from top to bottom. So if BG and Akron are tied for first, you look to see how they did against the #2 seed (BSU as of now). Both teams beat the Cards, so you'd go to the #3 seed (which for the sake of argument we'll say ends up being UB). BG went 2-0 against the Bulls, and Akron was 1-1, so BG would win the MAC. I'm not 100% certain this is how it works, but I'm pretty confident.TheTruth wrote:I believe you, however, if Akron were to win out in that scenario and we somehow dropped the final game vs. Ohio, we would be tied with Akron, and have split the season series with them. As I read it on mac-sports.com that is how I take it. Seems pretty complicated, but they've gotta break the ties somehow.RedHawk65 wrote:After head-to-head you look at each team's record against the other teams in the MAC, from top to bottom. First off, I don't want to go to the NIT (not in tournament) but it's better than nothing. There is also no way we would get a top four seed but if we got a 6 seed and us and the 7th seed won we would get a home game. Unless I am missing something I don't believe the NIT will not allow us a home game.OSUFALCON wrote:We won't be hosting any games! The NIT isn't interested in small crowds in small arenas.
We will never get a home game in the NIT. The seeds and locations are always set to ensure the home games end up in arenas where the largest crowds can be expected.nbfalcon wrote:First off, I don't want to go to the NIT (not in tournament) but it's better than nothing. You could move the game to Savage. We won't be using it.hammb wrote:We will never get a home game in the NIT. The women were at home in the WNIT first round a year ago, so I don't have any expectation they won't be this year if they don't make NC's.tiznow wrote:The arena at Miami holds double what BG holds. I very much doubt we would get a home game. Look at the women in the NIT last year.
