I would prefer to think that comes from someone who fears we devalue every aspect of the BGSU program from facilities to coaches and recruits to alums in an attempt to make excuses for any failure the program may experience. Building upon the positives of the past will get us to our goals faster than tearing up the past. Recruits want to hear that the last center was a pro rather than a statistically middle of the road player. It's all in how you sell it.Rollo83 wrote:FalconTurf wrote: "As a fan I value a player who plays hard, represents us well and enjoyed a level of success I could only dream of enjoying. That statement sounds like its coming from a fan base of a team that hasn't made the NCAA tournament since 1961. Again..I want more.
But, I will agree to disagree with you in how to further the success of our Falcon Men's Basketball program. I do believe we ultimately want the same outcomes and that's why we disagree so passionately. Go Falcons!
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.

Just to be clear...I don't know Otis Polk. I have never met Otis Polk. I assume he's a good fellow. I never heard of him getting trouble while in our program. I assume he did the work in the classroom because I never heard he was academically ineligible. In fact, I assume he got his degree. Good for him. That's the way its supposed to work.
I can only comment on his on-the-court endeavors. I am a fan. I watch some games. I listen to some games. I read the stories and the box scores online. I follow the discussions on this and other boards. So when I comment, I am just evaluating the basketball player and not the person.
As a division 1 athlete, this comes with the territory. You get a free education and you repersent your school on the field/court. Fans will alsways evaluate those performances...good and bad. Just another example of how intercollegiate athletics prepare student-athletes for the real world they'll face some day.

Rollo, I played against Otis Polk, I knew Otis Polk. Otis Polk was a friend of mine. Rollo, you are no Otis Polk.
Somebody had to say it.

Would prefer he have a career similar to Otis over Kevin Netter.
