The walk on that took the shot was a team manager last year, Wiley Roberts. The team went nuts when he went in praying that he would make a basket. The coaches were trying like crazy to make sure he got the ball, too, to take a shot. Kind of cool if you ask me. May be the only playing time this kid sees this year.

We just haven't brought in a guard that can really create (for himself or his teammates) since Lewis/Wright. I'm afraid that's going to be our downfall again this season.
I was hoping that would be Henderson. Or next years guard (If anyone wants to make a trip to Canton I am up for it). Any ideas why we didnt see the other three guys on the roster. Certainly seems curious that we put in a walk on over ther other 2 schollie guys.
Yeah, I don't know man. The walk on only came in for the final minute or two in a total blowout. It's always nice to let kids get a shot to come in the game, even if it garbage time. They work just as hard as everybody else.

The only thing I can say for the other guys is that they must not be ready. I haven't seen any practices/scrimmages or anything, so I can only defer to the coaching staff. I'm sure if they were ready to contribute they'd be given that opportunity. As for why they don't get in during garbage time I guess maybe they want to hold onto a redshirt until they prove that they're going to be an asset this year? That's just a guess, though I really don't know.

Not being privy to anything that goes on behind the scenes, I can only put our trust in the coaches and assume if those guys were better than the guys on the court they'd be given that opportunity.
Redshirt makes perfect sense, but I don't think we often use it. That doesn't mean we shouldn't if we can.

I thought I knew BG basketball, but something Monday night made me wonder. I'm sitting up in section E identifying all of the newcomers. Then, I notice this kid with a buzz cut warming up with Scott Thomas. "Hmmm. Who's he?" Thomas? No, he's playing catch with Thomas. Erger? No. Kraus? No. Uh...Oglesby??? NO!! I actually had to go get a roster to discover that the kid wearing #14 was JoJak.

I left AA Monday night filled more with optimism than I've had in years! I saw visible improvement in a number of guys. Could this be the most talented roster that we've had in 8 years? Longer?

Kraus IS a tough perimeter on-the-ball defender. He's mobile with the ball with reliable handles and sees the court well, as demonstrated by a number a confident down-court passes. We know he can shoot. We have ourselves a good sophomore guard.

Danny McElroy looked extremely tough on a variety of post plays AND he hit from the outside. Very impressive. Very good all-round player.

Calhoun has spent the past two season spectating, and he looks it. Once he gets his bearings, he'll be a dominant scorer. I see him competing for the MAC scoring title this year. He looks big time to me.

Sealey is wicked quick and gets off the floor in a blink. WOW is that kid fun to watch. He clearly is a freshman and needs to mature and add muscle, but I can see why Orr said that he has as much of an upside as anyone in the program. I saw hints of a mid-range game that will emerge with upper-body strength.

Cameron Black was impressive too. He has great instincts for where to be in the post. Also, he has great hands and feet. On a fast break early in the game, he caught a pass directly from behind on the run, de-contorted, and scored against pressure without travelling. It might not have looked that impressive, but it definitely revealed a lot.

Jordan Crawford had three picks for fast breaks buckets. He played smart, penetrated, and made good decisions. God that kid has spunk. He an Anthony Stacy, Germain Fitch type of player. He'll deliver. He and Kraus started and played mean.

With our talent and depth, I'm confident that we'll compete for a top spot in the MAC this year.

I would definitely concur that there is more young talent on this team than we have seen in recent years.

I'm genuinely excited about watching this team for the remainder of the year. They're not going to be a dominant 20 win team, but I think if they start to gel as the year goes on they can be a contender in the MAC. I can't wait to see :)
