I think it comes down to the fact that hockey and basketball games sometimes have time conflicts... and that Clear Channel didn't really want to do hockey.bgsufn wrote:When did this happen? When I went there BGRSO did *all* the football, mens and women's basketball, and hockey games. Did something change?
It would have been unacceptable for all our hockey games not to be on the air... and, frankly, it would have been tough for the community to have to rely on students as the only source for broadcasts. (Much love for BGRSO, but its as uneven as my dear old BG News was, and hockey is particularly tough to call).
So, to solve these issues, a professional team does the play-by-play for WBGU, which is the flagship. (Not sure who does womens basketball... it might also be a professional team).
I'm sure the students would like to cover everything on WBGSU... but this still leaves a lot of games for the students, and it keeps the community happy.
