I think it comes down to the fact that hockey and basketball games sometimes have time conflicts... and that Clear Channel didn't really want to do hockey.

It would have been unacceptable for all our hockey games not to be on the air... and, frankly, it would have been tough for the community to have to rely on students as the only source for broadcasts. (Much love for BGRSO, but its as uneven as my dear old BG News was, and hockey is particularly tough to call).

So, to solve these issues, a professional team does the play-by-play for WBGU, which is the flagship. (Not sure who does womens basketball... it might also be a professional team).

I'm sure the students would like to cover everything on WBGSU... but this still leaves a lot of games for the students, and it keeps the community happy.

Sorry guys, im just now reading AZZ for the first time since Wednesday..BEFORE the power went out. Ive been out since 5pm Wednesday. weve been slammed with Wall to Wall Coverage on our sister station adn ive been on the air alot of the time.

To Answer your question grant, Each station clears games, they have the option to run it, join in progress, tape delay, or not run at all. Sometimes they wont run the game because they are carrying a local high school game. I do know that 99.1 has moved games to 92.1 at times. I have no clue how much local sports 99.1 airs. Hope this helps....
