So what I see as what their roles should be.
1. Scott Thomas SF/SG/PF-32mins (Current avg 32mins) – 6-6 183 JR
o Our best most consistent player. Should be in almost the entire game. Offensively can play SF and SG with a little PF. Defensively can play SF with a little bit at SG and PF.
2. Cameron Black C-25mins (Current avg 21.3mins) – 6-10 230 FR
o Biggest guy on the team. Size alone means he should be out there. Would give him a rest at the middle of the first half and the middle of the second so that he has his wind at the end of both.
3. Jordan Crawford PG-25mins (Current avg 21.5) -- 5-6 143 SO
o He has to be in there at both the starts of the first and second half because he flat out exhausts both whoever is guarding him and whoever he is guarding. He might even give up nearly a foot at times in height but he is always moving and always working. I start him both in the 1st and 2nd half and then go with the hot hand at the end of the game between him and Jaku
4. A’uston Calhoun SF/PF-28mins (Current avg 19.5) – 6-7 218 SO
o Probably a bit undersized for the 4 but on this team he has to play it. Starts the game and the second half. If we are playing big teams with athletic scoring 4s I would move him more to the 3 so he avoids foul trouble. I would try to get him to focus on 2 things. 1) Following his shot, 2) Taking more high percentage shots within the offense.
5. Dee Brown SG-23mins (Current avg 28.5) – 6-3 195 JR
o Our second best guy at getting his own shot so we will need him many games. However he is poor on D so we can’t really use him much next to Craw. When he is hot he will be great off the bench so I bring him in to start games but hope his role is more as a 6th man with Krauss and Thomas taking the majority of the other minutes at the spot.
6. Joe Jakubowski PG-20mins (Current avg 19.8) – 6-2 191 SR
o I think he may have regressed and it’s in his head now. Happens to everyone lets hope he gets out of it fast. When he is hot he can be a steadying force that doesn’t hurt us too badly despite his deficiencies on D. Can shoot also so he plays at the 2 also alongside Craw for very short periods.
7. Danny McElroy PF/C-19mins (Current avg 22.1) – 6-8 198 SO
o I think it’s impossible not to like him but I really don’t have a good take on his skill set yet. He is very athletic and big so that’s fun but I am not sure exactly where he fits. He is number 2 out of our 4 big men so he gets a big number of minutes.
8. Luke Kraus G-12mins (Current avg 13.6) – 6-2 187 SO
o Not really quite sure what he brings yet. Atleast he is gutty, chippy and solid on D because of it. It would be perfect to have a big guard next to Craw and of what we have he someone fits.
9. Craig Sealey PF-8mins (Current avg 11.0) – 6-6 200 FR
o Athletic big who I can’t really put a finger on yet. Seems to be a little more athlete then ball player but certainly adds some on the floor. I think he is more of a PF then a C but I know he has seen minutes there.
10. Torian Oglesby C/PF-8mins (Current avg 16.8) – 6-7 200 JR
o People are fond of him and he seems to be the most aggressive and best rebounder of the bigs but I don’t have a real feeling on him. The big mans minutes are the ones I would shift around the most and I think I have the worst reading on.
11. James Erger SF-0mins (Current avg 5.1) – 6-6 185 SO
o I thought he was a pretty good shooter but I just don’t see it this year. On a team desperate for a spot up shooter, especially one who has great height and could potentially bang, he just has not found his role yet. If he is not going to transfer due to a lack of minutes, a year in the weight room would be awesome. Maybe he could be a Brian Cardinal like player for us.
12. Anthony Henderson SG-0mins (Current assumed Redshirt) – 6-2 175 FR(r?)
o Would love to be a fly on the wall in practice because this is all speculation. He was a great scorer in HS but has yet to play this year. I expected before this year that he and our recruit next year Clarke would be our backcourt for years. I have no idea why he is not playing but with no word about grades or discipline issues I would have to imagine that he is just not as good as what we have here so there is no reason to play him. We don’t tend to redshirt a lot of guys although it would be great to
So that’s it, that’s my plan. Seems pretty simple and I think the coaches are headed in this direction.

Pretty obvious that you do not listen to Coach Orr when he has repeatedly stated the plans are to redshirt Anthony and give him the time to adjust to college (academically and athletically).Globetrotter wrote:So what I see as what their roles should be.

Re: My hope for the roles this year
Yep I didnt hear him say that, seems interesting that the other guys don't need that though. Also interesting the tone you take instead of just saying. "Hey did you know that coach Orr said this...." I think the internet default for some people is shifted as far toward condescending as possible and as far away from civil.transfer2BGSU wrote:Pretty obvious that you do not listen to Coach Orr when he has repeatedly stated the plans are to redshirt Anthony and give him the time to adjust to college (academically and athletically).Globetrotter wrote:So what I see as what their roles should be.
