What is the "official" capacity of the Stroh Center?

Post by BGSU33 »

I have seen several different numbers floating around, anywhere from 4,300 to 4,400 to 4,700 to 5,000. Does anyone know what the "official" capacity figure actually is?

When I look at www.bgsufalcons.com, I found the following -

The Stroh Center, set to open in September 2011, will be the home to men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball. The facility will seat 4700 on game day of which approximately 400 seats will be club seats with access to the Anderson Club.

So the answer to your question (as of the November 1, 2010 press release) would be 4,700 on game day.

Actually, I've heard the revised 'official' capacity is going to be a little under 4,400 seats. But, from the video & photos I've seen on BGSUFalcons.com, it looks like they will be able to fit several hundred more fans at the east end of the arena, if they ever need to sell standing-room-only tickets.

I do know there are at least 20 fewer seats that originally planned, as they now only have room for "about" 20 Jack Nicholson type floor seats as they added another press desk to the floor. They originally said there would be about 40 of these seats.

Thanks for the update. I still find it sort of hard to believe that we built a new building actually smaller than Anderson Arena (which is about 4,700 including the upper south seats). And I am not referring to just for athletic events, I am referring to all of the uses of the venue (athletics, graduation, concerts, etc). It just seems strange to have gone from by far the smallest arena in the MAC to an even smaller one. I do understand the concept of our seating actually increasing from about 3,500 which we were using for athletics at Anderson Arena to 4,400 or so at the Stroh Center though.
