Explaining the comment- there was a Toledo game (I think) where Fitch hit a game winning type shot and a fan (who posts on here) rushed the court, jumped on Germain Fitch and tore his acl. Dakich later stated he felt they could have won the MAC if that injury didn't occur...
Oh yeah, now I remember hearing about that!! thanks!

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

That's how you put seats in the corners.

Not to crab, but that's how you build an arena, period. You enter on street level and go DOWN to your seats. Oh, not in Wood County...it would end up being a pool :-)

At least the tin soldiers don't make you climb the steps outside the building like Joe Louis Arena up in Deeetroit....
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

I heard and I am sure someone can verify this but I was told it would cost another 12-15 million if we built the arena with the floor under ground level. Too much time and money to dig a big pit. And broken equipment. Maybe BG should have checked into hiring Bruce Wills and his Armagedden drilling crew. What would have been nice is to have two sets of escalators. Airports and shopping malls have them, why not the Stroh.

As bad as this sounds (and I know it sounds bad), if you can climb stairs then you should climb them. There is an elevator in the building for those physically unable to climb stairs. However, just because you are lazy doesn't mean that we now need automatic stairs. Walk your fat ass up the stairs and lose a little weight.

Dear the Sentinnel-Tribune.

My experience at the Stroh was basically ruined because they made me walk up stairs. The "Obese Police" that created the building certainly did not think about those of us who don't like to exercise. I had to walk up to 30 steps just to watch a basketball game. This needs rectified soon. I wish to enter the arena carried like Madonna at the Super Bowl.

If having to climb stairs actually hurt the attendance at basketball games, then that's just sad. I'm willing to bet the product on the court impacts attendance more than having to climb stairs.

I don't know of any modern arena's that are built into the ground. The only ones I can think of is UD Arena and The Pit in New Mexico. Both were built in the 60s. I don't see the point of building a 4,500 seat arena into the ground. If you're going to build into the ground it better be a huge seating capacity.

UD seats 13,435
The Pit seats 15,000+

UD Arena has water pumps running constantly too to prevent it from flooding. With an arena that size you don't have much choice, but it would have been a money pit if BG tried to do it with the Stroh.

Probably not. Unless they were in a tournament. New Castle is not in the same conference as Carmel. Carmel is probably the most wealthy high school in Indiana. Not the biggest gym, but very nice amenities.
