BG to play in College Insider Tournament

Post by TG1996 »

Just tweeted by the athletic department. Kent State and Toledo also accept bids to the 24-team tournament.

College Insider Tournament?? Just like college football and their 1000 bowl games. I guess this is equivalent to the "Myles Pizza" bowl. Just fire Louie and end yet another dismal year of Falcon Basketball.

I'm glad to see us in a tourney like this if only for the fact that Thomas, Brown, and Oglesby get to suit up hopefully a few more times.

By the way.....it costs roughly $30,000 to host a game. Could be more, could be less. Western declined a bid a few years back because of the cost.

I hope BG is playing on the road.

Basically if you want to fork over the money you can be in. I can't remember if it was this one or the CBI, but UC played in one a few years back with a 13-18 record because they had deep pockets.

Hopefully they can couple that $30,000 with the money from dirty temple bolting to buy out Orr's contract.

Great...this will be used as an excuse to keep Orr around...and then next year when we're sub .500 we'll hear about how he's doing a great job returning us to that "tournament team" level we saw in 2011/2012...
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

It would cost BG $30,000 to host a game. I'm assuming that money is coming from the donation.

This pretty much guarantees Orr will be back. Bask in the mediocrity.

BG likely won't host a first round game, simply because of scheduling. They start late this week and the Stroh is booked with high school games, NCAA women's games and possibly a WNIT game.

Feels odd to consider this a "reward" after the way things ended vs. CMU, but any extra chance to pull for the brown and orange is all right by me.

Oh boy. Well now BG can't fire Orr because he was a coach of the year and he took a team to a totally useless postseason tournament. Great season Lou.

I don't think the tournament bid will effect Orr's future...and I fully expect him to be back. Doubt if anything else is even being considered.

I like the fact BG gets to play more basketball. I just think the CBI and CIT are pointless, they are basically money grabs that no one pays attention to.

Agreed. Even though I agree with everyone that it is probably time for a change, I think it will take a pretty awful season next year for GC to dump him.
