Ya know, the women hired someone who was a high school coach and he is one of the winningest coaches in BGSU history. He was a BG alum, and still comes to BGSU games. That would be Fran Voll.

So, it would be great to see Al and Fay Stacey in the stands once again :-)

That being said, we need a good hatchet coach, one that comes in and says "my way or the highway". Kind of like Dan Dakich. Maybe Bobby Knight is available LOL

At this point I'll take any coach who doesn't just shrug his shoulder and reference God in injury reports.

At this point experience shouldn't be a factor that makes or breaks any candidate. Id love a Jeff Boals type guy but idk if BG is a good enough job to get a guy like that. I think someone who already has ties to the program and its fan base outweighs experience. Just my opinion.

I think that things are so bad that people don't seem to really care about the quality of coach as long as it's not Orr. That's dangerous.

I think the AD cares a great deal...as will any search committe involved. We'll be fine...unless they reanimate Idi Amin and he interviews. I understand he was pretty good in one on one discussions.

No head coach would want him as an assistant because they would feel threatened by his popularity with many Falcon supporters. Anthony has many strong ties with high school coaches throughout the state and AAU coaches throughout the country because of his involvement as a coach with the Cleveland Basketball Club considered one of the best AAU programs in the country who have produced many division I players. Anthony would be smart enough to put together a staff with college experience and guys he has a relationship with that he could trust. Stacey bleeds orange and brown as does his family. Yes Fran Voll was successful right out of high school coaching and Fred Hoiberg with no coaching experience (not high school, not college, not professional) has quickly turned around Iowa State. If I have my choice of a big time assistant or an enthusiastic, confident, passionate toward BGSU, well connected with high school and AAU coaches, and an incredible communicator I vote for the latter. Tony Little would also be on my short list.

Stacey also has a player playing at Michigan State and two members of his current team are being recruited heavily by Division I schools. A
6"10" sophomore being recruited by many including Michigan and a junior guard being recruited by all the MAC schools. As I said earlier our loss will be somebody elses gain.

Well...he's gonna have to wear pants and get a haircut...but, OK...we can interview him.

At this point the above attire at least rivals that of Bob Huggins.

I disrespectfully disagree. JK. But I do completely disagree. A head coach won't be looking over his shoulder at a former hs coach.

Stacey isn't going to get a college head coaching job. It's not happening. He isn't going from Medina HS to anything but college assistant. It's not how things work. Coaches with long term success in HS in major markets with unique systems make big jumps like this, and most don't. They become assistants at the college level and then maybe head coaches. I assume he will eventually get his chance but my guess is that it will be an assistant with prior head coaching experience who is now at a large school. His first assistant will be a guy he knows well. His second assistant will be Raine and his 3rd will be Stacy.

Thats not really my guess but that is how I would do it.

I think this is the safe bet. I don't see our athletic department or new AD being huge gamblers. Dino was a safe conventional hire for football (a good hire from all appearances) and I expect the same for basketball, a conventional hire with a very strong resume.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.
