Starting line-up against Kent

Post by footballguy51 »

Just a suggestion:

1 - Brandon Busuttil
2 - Zack Denny
3 - Shaun Joplin
4 - Craig Sealey
5 - Josh Gomez

Given the chance to start, I bet this line-up wouldn't fall behind by 15 points or so at the beginning of the game. What do you all think?

This is a Blade article from last April that sums up well the philosophy of our current head coach (I now refuse to even utter his name)

The headline says it all:

BGSU men's basketball coach Orr says he won’t change in final year of contract

http://www.toledoblade.com/BGSU/2013/04 ... tract.html" target="_blank

So here we have a head coach of a Division I Men's basketball program that went 13-19 who proudly proclaims, "I won't change."

Well, the athletic department got what it asked for!

And we fans suffered through yet another losing season with a head coach who just keeps doing what he's always done.

So, will we see a radical lineup change Wednesday night against Kent? hahahaha..

I've marked March 11th on my calendar as the day we will be delivered.

The 11th is the day after this team loses its first round road MAC tournament game and the day I am hopeful the current AD will allow this head coach to "pursue other interests."

I might be getting greedy, but I'm hoping for March 10th. I'd announce it about 5 minutes after the game ends. Or if BG no shows in the 1st half, just go ahead and announce it at halftime.

At this point, I don't know why Orr wouldn't just announce his departure himself. Might spark the team.

He might not ever be able to say that because he is too obtuse to see the writing on the wall that it's inevitable he will be non-renewed or that he believes that Chris Kingston plays no role in this decision because it's in God's hands.

And on a side note:

Can any athletic department administrator listen to one post-game press conference that this current coach gives and NOT come to the conclusion that he is completely inept? I cannot believe that someone who has been in college coaching as long as he has can stumble and bumble and pause and lose train of thought as often as he does when asked to evaluate the performance of his team.

And has he EVER once just said "we stink! And we need to get better! And we coaches need to do a better job. And this kind of performance is unacceptable if we want to be a force in this conference!"

Critics can say what that want about DD, but that man said it like it was and I for one always appreciated his passion and candor!

It is truly a head shaker to listen to this head coach, and I cringe every time I listen.

I have to believe this post is entirely tongue in cheek, 51? I imagine that lineup would fall behind by 15 just as quickly as our current starters do and would then proceed to fall further behind as the game went on, until the other team went into complete shut down mode because it was over.

I have no idea who the Busuttil guy even is, I'm guessing one of the sweatsuit guys? Joplin may bring some athleticism, but we have no idea what we'd get from him. Sealey has shown nothing consistent in his 4 years, and appears unable to play more than a couple short stretches a game due to injury now. Denney's knee would probably be the size of a basketball by the time he played 5 minutes, and hasn't played in weeks (months?). Gomez is probably the worst player that has gotten consistent playing time this year, so see no reason he should be getting more minutes.

Going to lesser players just to do so isn't going to make this team any better. We're devoid of talent across the board. Our starters aren't good enough and our bench players are not nearly good enough, when compared to our conference brethren.

Yes, partly a joke. But in all honesty, would starting the sweatsuit gang hurt us? We'll still lose, but we'd all get to see the guys we never get to see. And who knows, the current starters might be so offended by this switch that they step up when they get in and end up dominating the game.

Would this happen? No chance. Orr would never make this change. And, to be honest, I forgot Denny was injured and that Sealey wasn't 100%. But, I think we should take every person that's never been in a game and start them for the next game. If we're going to watch crap basketball, might as well watch something interesting in the process.

I was surprised by Gomez. He seemed serviceable. Nothing special, but could give 10-12 good minutes a game in the MAC.
