Can we FINALLY beat Akron???

With the exception of the loss to Ferris State and the near miss upset of Dayton, the season has been fantastic so far. The 2-0 start in the MAC against a pair of MAC East teams picked in front of us has been huge and not only shows the rest of the league that we aren't pushovers anymore, more importantly, I think it has given our team a huge boost of confidence.

With all that said, we now find ourselves up against what has been unformidable opponent. Can we FINALLY beat the Zips?! To say we have had struggles against Akron would be putting it way too lightly. They have simply owned us! It has gotten so bad I honestly can't even remember how bad the record is. I think we have lost 19 out of our last 20 to them now maybe?? Yes I know Akron has been a good program and has fielded a good team basically every year over the last decade. But to be dominated by another team in the MAC like this is unacceptable.

I hope Wednesday we can finally get a damn win against them because as excited as we might be about looking competitive in the MAC again, there's a very good chance we are going to have to face Akron in the MAC Tournament (I have faith we're finally gonna be in Cleveland this year) and if we can't ever find a way to beat them that's always going to be a mental hurdle we face before even playing the game.

Let's get it done BG! This is a different BG team! Beat Akron!

YES. Chris Jans and the Atomic Bombs will finally get it done against Akron. Hopefully that starts Wednesday night.

I liked what Jans said after the Ohio game: “I’d like to someday be called aggressive and physical. We’re not there. I sure hope someday that I look at them and say they’re playing the way we want them to play."

We currently are ranked #1 in the MAC in defense and are near top in steals, assist/turnover ratio - a solid fundamental team. That is good, but it is even more encouraging that Jans thinks he has much more to accomplish in terms of style of play and types of players coming here in the future.

I am very bullish on Jans and Falcon hoops!

No kidding. Akron...ugh. I saw the only game we won in the last 10 years at the JAR, 50-46. That will stop under Coach Jans. Love this guy....
