Congrats to Buffalo

Post by Hdog »

In year 2 Bobby Hurley leads Buffalo first NCAA tournament. That is impressive. Hats off to them. I love the success story with the Bulls - it bodes well for the MAC. I believe we are getting closer to sending more than one team soon.

Nice articles today on the rise of the Bulls under Hurley. Here is one:

Stay positive Falcon fans, it can happen in Falcon nation too. We have a good coach in Jans. In a conference full of solid coaching, we are right there with the best. It's going to be fun the next few years with a lot of epic battles between top teams - including our beloved Falcons. Enjoy the ride.

In glad they made it because I think they are the conferences best bet to win a game or two.

I can't stand Hurley but he is a legit coach. I continue to be amazed at his much talent he inherited. That team is really good.

Hopefully this run gets him out of the league. He inherited a bunch of talent but also can recruit at a high level as evidenced by Lamonte Bearden, one of the best players to come through the MAC in years who can get his shot whenever he wants.

The MAC has made some outstanding coaching hires over the past couple years.

I agree with that last statement.

I don't really want Hurley (or any of the other quality coaches) out of the MAC just yet. Hurley is a fun guy to root against because he brings it upon himself. More importantly, I LIKE the league having a bunch of quality coaches. I want to return to the days where we were watching future NBA guys on a weekly basis in MAC hoops. The best path to doing that, IMO, is having a wealth of quality head coaches.

This league is, and has been, a one bid league for more than a decade, but I don't think it HAS to be that way. I would like all of the schools to put money into Hoops and create a better product all around. And I don't fear that in the least because I think BG has one of, if not the, best coaches int hat group, so I'm not worried one bit.

Let's turn this into a quality mid-major hoops league and enjoy some tourney success. C'mon Hurley, turn some heads (and stay in UB).
