Re: Recruiting 2015
For me its just frustrating because this guy seems like another guy in a line up poor big men recruits. He's 6-9+ and can move so sign him up. Jans seemed to be completely against that idea. Also Andrews was my favorite guy atleast from the videos. I think he would have been a star. Losing him and then offering this guy is frustrating.
It is important to note that I have about 1/100th of the information on any of these guys that the coaches do. Essentially, while I think it's really fun to talk about this stuff and make predictions, and they are not completely ignorant positions, I still don't really have any idea what I am talking about. However, when you watched Scott Thomas you saw what he became. When you watched Richaun Holmes you saw what he became, When you logically looked at Desmond Rorie in HS you could project what would come of him. I was off on Denny because I feared he would just be a spot up shooter. That hasn't been the case at all and I love it.
You should have stopped reading right now but if you haven't my thoughts on our two recruits from the small sample size.
1. Malik: Will be a fan favorite swing backup at the 1 and 2 but never really start. Doesn't have a 3 point shot and didn't have a high number of assists in HS. Is a very solid athlete but at just 5-11 he won't be an all-league defender. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he redshirted depending on who fills those 2-5 vacancies in the roster we currently have.
2. Friday: He has a body to bang but doesn't seem to want to do it. Has a nice outside shot and could be a solid stretch 4. Shot over 40% from 3 and took a ton of them. Doesn't lack athleticism but isn't a Richaun Holmes either. If we can get him to bang in the post he could be a solid tandem starter with Worrell and get All-Mac recognition (probably near the end of lists) later in his career.

Hey Globe, programs with 3 coaches in as many years don't usually get what they want in terms of recruiting. Get ready for roster turnover, it's going to happen.

Re: Recruiting 2015
Right now we have 8 guys on scholarship for certain and as many as 11 depending on what happens with Tisdale, Dickerson and Parker. I like to put myself in peoples shoes and think about whether or not I would transfer. Parker and Dickerson no way. Parker has one year left and will the focal point of our offense. I can't imagine a really strong reason to leave. Dickerson has only been here a year but only has one year of eligibility left and very easily could start. In fact I would imagine if he stays he starts at the 3 spot with Denny moving to the 2. Tisdale is another story. He has 2 years of eligibility left, lots of potential and hasn't really found a fit on the court. He barely played last year. Now he was also all over twitter for the recent athletic awards ceremony stuff so he seems to like it here, and his time on the court could change drastically with no one who played the 2 last year coming back and a new coach.
What we have for certain
1 Joseph-4
2 Austin-4--Malik-1
3
4 Worrell-1--Friday-1--Wiggins-1
5 Gomez-4--Mayleben-2
What we might have
1 Joseph-4--Austin-4--Malik-1
2 Denny-3--Tisdale 3
3 Dickerson-4
4 Parker 4--Friday-1--Wiggins-1
5 Worrell-1--Gomez-4--Mayleben-2
I really think we can win games with that second lineup. We will have major scoring drought nights but other nights we will score in bunches.

Denny exploring his options. Jovan Austin could leave as well.

Verbal Commits just added Denny as a transfer about an hour ago...OSUFALCON wrote:Denny exploring his options. Jovan Austin could leave as well.

Do I still have eligibility? I would love to play for a year.
Seriously it can't be good when you hire a coach he flies to Wyoming, can't get that player to sign and 4(?) players transfer after meeting you.

Re: Recruiting 2015
Are these guys leaving because they were loyal to Jans/Downey or because Huger is telling them "I don't see you as a big part of our future"?
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: Recruiting 2015
My guess this group was told something from the administration after this situation happen and now it's different. I don't think Huger has had time to tell anyone to go elsewhere. He needs a team!

Re: Recruiting 2015
Makes sense as to why Huger got a six year deal. He's going to need at least three to rebuild the program. Chris Jans certainly ended up putting BG basketball behind another five years...
