I wonder if they'd suspend him (if they do) for an OOC game that's only there to provide exposure for the schools anyway...?

Sun Belt considering action after coach's behavior at Arkansas State game
By KELLY P. KISSEL
Associated Press Writer
LITTLE ROCK (AP) - The commissioner of the Sun Belt Conference
said Monday a videotape shows that Arkansas-Little Rock coach Steve
Shields did not touch a fan at last week's game against Arkansas
State, but that he was still considering disciplinary action
against the coach.
Commissioner Wright Waters said Shields' interaction with an
Arkansas State fan, while not physical, raised sportsmanship issues
and may have violated a league rule to "act in the best interest
of the Sun Belt Conference."
With 8:44 left in Arkansas-Little Rock's victory at Arkansas
State in Jonesboro on Thursday night, a confrontation occurred
behind the UALR bench. Media, including The Associated Press,
reported initially Thursday and Friday that Shields had grabbed a
fan's shirt after the fan grazed his face with a water bottle.
The fan, Shields and Waters said the coach didn't touch anybody.
"I did not touch the fan and it's clearly shown on the tape,"
Shields said Monday. "I was trying to get security behind our
bench for the remainder of the game."
Waters said he had viewed an Arkansas State videotape of the
contest and determined that there was no contact. He said
conference officials had interviewed 22 or 23 people, including
Shields, and were "still at the stage where we are still trying to
get our arms around it."
A second videotape, taken by a television news crew, was due to
arrive at the league's New Orleans office on Tuesday, he said. An
Arkansas-Little Rock videotape did not show the incident from an
angle different from the Arkansas State video, Waters said.
Indians season-ticket holder Rusty Acebo told the Arkansas
Democrat-Gazette newspaper of Little Rock on Friday that he didn't
recall Shields touching him and told the Jonesboro Sun newspaper
that any contact with the water bottle was incidental.

UALR coach in trouble
Dakich doesn't need some bumpkin from Arkansas for that... its what he has Stan Joplin for!NY-BG-FAN wrote:And then you have Dakich on the other sideline dropping the F-Bomb at every miss and whipping the Jacket around.....should make for an interesting afternoon. I'd like to see these guys go at it at a post-game press conference ala Calipari and John Cheney a few years back.
