Hard to believe it's taken this long for Darrow to get this honor. As perhaps the only AZZer to see him play over his Falcon years, and seeing a 52 pt. game TWICE in a season ( without a 3 pt. circle). A 5'10" guard who could play the pivot when he had to, I say this is a LONG overdue honor.

My father watched Darrow for his whole BG career. He raved and raved about what a fantastic fast break guard he was and how good he was on the pullup jumper. Dad told me Darrow was one of the very best guards in the nation and of the caliber of Komives.

Long, long, long overdue.

Funny thing is that Jim was not " built" like a basketball player. 5'10"' but on chubby side with what looked like heavy legs... until that jump shot went up... and in. Like I said this was before the 3 pt. Line. Wonder what his numbers would've been if that was available.

I remember coming to see Jimmy duel Leo Byrd (Marshall) when I was in junior high, with my dad. If I remember correctly, they were one and two in the nation in scoring, or close to that.
