Don't you think the MAC could partner up with the Horizon League to do a MAC/Horizon challenge? Like the Big10/ACC?
That would assure both leagues of one D1 game at home in alternating years and could drum up some minor interest every year keeping track of which league wins the "trophy".
We could call it the "I-80 Trophy". . .
And we'll never be Royals v BG. 12/28 5:30?

[quote="Globetrotter"]This should be a complete non issue.
1. Huger has coached in this league for awhile and under what I assume is a well-respected veteran coach in Larranaga. I don't see why we are not getting a trip to Miami every year. Larranaga probably has assistants throughout the country as well.
2. James Madison should probably be on our schedule every year. Rowe is part of Huger's coaching tree.

Within the MAC footprint we have 20 schools that are not Big East or Big 10. We should have no trouble rotating home and homes with these guys and even building up a rivalry with some where we play every year.

They have to be willing to come here and many just won’t do it for many different reasons. Baseball has the same problem with most of the Ohio and nearby schools. It is not that the coaches don’t try to schedule them.

Gonna bet that getting Dayton and Butler in particular will be most difficult, and though you didn't include Xavier or Cincy in the possibles, they'd be part of those "untouchables" who probably would NEVER agree to a game at the Stroh. (Along w/ OSU of course)

The same Cincy that played a game against BG at the Stroh Center two seasons ago....Class of 61 wrote:Gonna bet that getting Dayton and Butler in particular will be most difficult, and though you didn't include Xavier or Cincy in the possibles, they'd be part of those "untouchables" who probably would NEVER agree to a game at the Stroh. Globe didn't include Xavier since they are in the Big East and he was excluding the Big East and Big 10, though he also should have excluded DePaul and Butler from his list as well since those two are also in the Big East

I knew Cincy's women had played here ( actually saw that game). Must've forgotten that men's team played too.BGFalconfromCincy wrote:The same Cincy that played a game against BG at the Stroh Center two seasons ago....Class of 61 wrote:Gonna bet that getting Dayton and Butler in particular will be most difficult, and though you didn't include Xavier or Cincy in the possibles, they'd be part of those "untouchables" who probably would NEVER agree to a game at the Stroh. It's strange not to be playing Detroit. It seemed like we played them every season. That was a good series between two equals.
Another good home and home would be with Fort Wayne.
