Post by Matty B »

This team is quickly becoming a 2nd half team

2nd half point differentials this season:
-7 (Michigan)
+21
+4
+18
+6
+15
+16

Good to see us making halftime adjustments and closing out games!

Absolutely - this team always battles hard in the 2nd half. It’s a testament to how experienced they are, with how much success they have in the clutch. I just wish they’d get better starts. My heart can only take so much. Lol

Last year, Frye and Laster gave us ~37% FG shooting and poor 3pt shooting. Look at the numbers. Fields didn't shoot well and JTurner had big problems finishing, despite his scoring average.

JTurner and Fields have turned these problems around completely, and Matheny is giving us much better shot selection from the point.

I literally cannot recall the last time we consistently outplayed the opponent in the 2nd half - unless we were simply outplaying them all game.

I started watching Falcon BBall in 1976. And in all that time, with all those coaches - I don't recall ever EVER being the team that CONSISTENTLY adjusted well at the half and came out and did significantly better in the 2nd half than the first.

And Huger didn't do it before now, either.

I am hoping it's the coaching staff learning how to adjust as well the team being deep and experienced and just having the right attitude.

Because we can still be deep and experienced FOREVER now, really. But if the coaches aren't the driving force behind the 2nd half excellence, it won't last.

Could be new components of the coaching staff.

I think the changes to the coaching staff are paying huge dividends. Just watch our assistants during games. They seem more involved and engaged.
