NCAA Tournament

Post by astacey34 »

Hey everybody this is anthony stacey, just wanted to wish the falcons good luck on the upcoming tourney. Hope they go all the way. I keep up with the team and always hope they win, I still bleed brown and orange. I am still in Spain playing ball, things are going ok, our team is struggling a little bit and it doesn't look like we will make the playoffs, it will be the first time in my pro career that I may not make the playoffs. Well hope all is well and good luck to the falcons, go all the way and make us proud!

Wow. Welcome back!

Do they do promotion/relegation in Spain? Because -- ouch -- it looks like Algeciras is cutting it close :(. That's got to be tough considering how good your other teams were.

Spain sounds like a wonderful place to play ball (a long way from Midview!). I'd love to hear more about it.

Hey Anthony! Welcocme to the website. I think its safe to say that everyone on this board still has very fond memories of your time in BG. Great to hear that you're still thinking about/following the BG hoops team!

Good Luck with the rest of your season, we'll do our best to root on the Falcons in your absence!

Is anyone/everyone here familiar with the classic promo on WBGU during the game where Anthony Stacy broke the all time scoring record?? It's sweet! Thanks for posting Anthony.

Some of the best basketball I have ever seen were the legendary Anthony Stacey vs. Wally Szczerbiak matchups.

It was the MAC's version of Bird-Magic ... I'd still take Stacey over Szczerbiak any day!
"I don't anticipate leaving," Urban Meyer said. "I look forward to being here a long time."

Anthony Stacey is the reason Mrs. Death and I started buying season tickets. We loved watching how #34 would sucker opponents into making fouls then nod to the crowd.

Anthony Stacey was worth us getting an NCAA Tournament appearance alone when he played here. What a warrior! I wanted him to get a chance to play in the NCAA Tournament as much as I did BG. To think we've had guys like Anthony Stacey, Antonio Daniels and Keith McLeod at BG recently and not go to the NCAA Tournament makes me scratch my head....and then bang it as hard as I can on something very hard until I knock myself out from the frustration of getting snubbed in 1997, 2000 and 2002!!!

My favorite (of many) Anthony Stacey memory was the game winning turn around jumper to beat Akron in the JAR in 2000. BG of course went on to win their next game at Marshall to wrap up the MAC regular season outright title. That game at Akron was quite a classic though, one of my favorite BG athletics memories period.

That was a great finish. I remember the look on his face, kind of a cross between, "yeah, I knew it was going in" and "now shut up, Zip fans." Those Akron people were all over him all game, and he kept making big shots.

Hm, NBA vs. Spain. I'm just playin'. Those were some great matchups.

Congrats on your win tonight, and good luck Thurday (just not too much :) ). The last two times (and now 3) we've met in the tounrey, one of us was the #1 seed (us in '99 and '05, you in '00). Both were nail-biting OT finishes. Should be exciting...

PS. You guys are the only MAC team we haven't beaten this year. I'm just sayin'...
