2021-2022 Recruiting
Re: 2021-2022 Recruiting
BG apparently just picked up Gabe O’Neal from Kent State? 6’7” guy, 4.7 ppg last year. That’s all I know. Looks like Huger understood his front court problems last year. Say what you will about him as a coach, but he’s done a hell of a job filling in all the holes and then some for next year; and the team may be the deepest we’ve had in decades. Should be fun to see how everything comes together.

There you go again, completely botching the depth chart.

Re: 2021-2022 Recruiting
I do believe Mr. O'Neal consumes our 13th available scholarship.

This is easily the deepest team I've ever seen at BG. We'll need to play 60-minute games to get everybody decent playing time.

Ponderings...
1. O'Neal comes in as a 4th year senior. Does he get 2 years of eligibility at BG?
2. Reece also comes in as a 4th year senior. Does he get 2 years of eligibility at BG?
3. Curtis has already used a redshirt year. Is he immediately eligible?
I can come up with a half-arsed opinion just as easily as any of you. If you know something for a F.A.C.T., please respond.

Curtis needs a waiver due his previous transfers. Couldn't tell you on the other two.BleedOrange wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 1:05 pm Ponderings...

O'Neal played at least one year at JUCO Mineral Area. Last year at Kent he played behind 1st team All MAC Danny Pippin.

Re: 2021-2022 Recruiting
O'Neal is the first xfer we've we've gotten from another MAC. It feels WEIRD trying to excited about him. However, his HS videos make him appear dominant with insane hops for a guy with his weight. Good hands. Averaged 10 & 7 at Mineral Area, but who knows what JC stats ever really mean?
O'Neal definitely fills a role that nobody else on our roster can fill - a super-strong, physical low post guy who can maneuver and do things.

I wonder if the newcomers could beat the returnees in a scrimmage.

Re: 2021-2022 Recruiting
There is nothing better than this. 15 guys on a roster. All with unique stories.
2(3) Srs returning
5 Xfers 1-3 that are Srs
1 promising guy coming off injury
3 promising covid freshmen trying to fight for minutes
1 athletic true freshman at our biggest need position
1 covid sophomore who was playing well the last few weeks
1 covid sophomore who has the size but could lose weight to move better
Everyone has a story. BG sports info and local media better up their game
