I bet Hammb will be raving about John Floyd's performance tomorrow. I don't think he scored and I must have heard "drives by John Floyd for the layup" 5 times. Based solely on Todd and Cowboy's commentary, it just sounded like we had no emotion at any point tonight outside of JR. Congratulations to Miami, though. I thought we had a better chance of beating them than any other team in Cleveland and we lost by 20. Hopefully the girls are more successful tomorrow afternoon.

For what it's worth, the BG women knocked off the Miami women yesterday (if you didn't already know).

What I saw was a very strong and emotional performeance by Reimold, as well as hearty play from Moon, Austin, and Lefeld. The rest seemed pretty uninspired, save a few minutes from Mawi.
I, unlike most, am excited about next year's team. They aren't going to win much, but the kids we have coming back work their asses off and will certainly play with heart. With that said, the worst Dakich teams were those who failed to give all their effort every game, and I do not see that with next year's players. Mawi should offer strong leadership, as well as Wright (who should be getting a 4th year, but will still lead like a senior).
We all just need to keep our heads up, eh?

Okay, I made it back through the snow.

Floyd was horrid tonight, as someone above eluded to. No need to really go too much in depth. Basically his jumper was never close to going in. He made more boneheaded passes than usual, and when he drove he threw up wild crap that almost no shot at going in. On the plus side he did have a steal that I remember, and he didn't flop a single time.

Like someone else stated we only had a couple players who really showed up. Austin looked good and played hard. Stevie was making some shots early (the only one to do so), but didn't do much thereafter. Reimold was the only one who really played inspired. Like the kids in front of me stated we watched the Josh Almanson of years past today. He just didn't seem into the game. Reimold, even though he was our best player, was terrible from the free throw line.

Early on we were wondering if Dan was drunk when he put LeFeld in, but we actually seemed to have more rythmn when he was in than before. Of course we never saw him back in again.

I think we scored about 10 total points in the first 8:00 of the two halves combined. We came into the game, and then back out of the haltime flatter than the BG Landscape. I just don't get it. Nobody was moving. We were turning it over. We weren't hitting shots. It was absolutely UGLY.

As for my text message to Grant, it was based more on the flow of the game. For starters I had a pretty good hunch at 2:00 into the game that we were going to get drilled, unfortunately it held true. However, anyone that sat through the game or managed to listen to it all could tell that the second half was ugly. BG didn't show up and we got flat out killed, but the referees RUINED this game. They began calling every ticky tack little foul you could imagine. I think both teams were in the double bonus at about 9:00 into the half. They probably called 40 total fouls in the second half. I think that Dan was intentionally fouling so late in the game just to spite the referees. It was just a TERRIBLE game to watch. The fact that we never really had a shot to win from about 10 minutes into the 1st half on only made it that much worse.

It was kinda funny too because in the OU-KSU game they didn't call hardly any fouls at all. We were joking that the MAC brass told the offiicials that tey had to keep that game moving to get us out of there by 12:00.

I agree with the posts above about yesterday's game. Furthermore, we had no attack inside. None whatsoever.

Speaking of Floyd, he stunk. Floyd got beat all day on defense. He got beat to the corner, to the lane, and to the basket. Miami's guards were running around him so much he had to be getting dizzy.

Well, not to defend Floyd too much, but he is playing with a high ankle sprain according to DD.

I will agree that Floyd has room for improvement, but I have to say Moon is even worse at PG. Yes he can play some defense. Maybe he should just stay in the back court when we have the ball and play 4 on 5. I think we would have a better chance to score that way. Whenever he touches the ball in the offensive end I am just hoping he doesn't turn it over.

Two of the bigger possesions I can remember from games we lost: Battling back from down 20 at Northern to be only down four with the ball and Moon turns it over. Last night after Coles got the T, Josh makes the ft's to cut it to seven, we have a chance to score and really build some momentum. What happened? Moon turns it over. He had 49 assists and 45 TOs. That is horrendous for a PG who handles the ball. Do I even have to mention how bad a shot he has? We are hurting at the point to say the least.

82: I don't understand your logic re: next year's team...as I sat with some BG fans and watched a rather drab bball game, I couldn't help but wonder:  WHO will be a scorer on next year's team? Steven Wright shows flashes of talent, then disappears...John Floyd is also very inconsistent...give him the benefit of a doubt playing hurt in the tournament, but too many errors from a PG...Austin Montgomery has a chance as a shooter, but will he be able to create his own shots... Vandermeer(sp?) looked good when he 1st started a few games, moved feet well, got good position to block or alter shots, made some freshman errors last nite against a veteran (Horace) who took him to school..and, if you look at the box score, TWO starters didn't score a point! Hopefully, some of the current signees can fill in but it's become quite obvious that we're "overdependent" on two players, both of whom won't be here next year.

Oh man...there were a heck of a lot of fouls in that game. It would be like we would get a little spark of something going and then a foul would be called and that would be the end of it. It was frustrating to watch.

We'll get our points.....there has to be a scorer even on bad teams, not that we will be bad next year.
That said, I think Wright is obviously the go-to guy next year, but Austin has great offensive talent (think back to his first few games in a BG uniform), and Vandermeer will improve.
You may not have been able to see who is going to score next year, but I think that is because there has really been nobody who has had the offensive pressure on their backs other than Reimold and Almanson. If Wright and Montgomery had been the primary and secondary options this year, their numbers would naturally be higher and your outlook would most likely be different. When their roles change for next year, so too will the numbers they put up. Just watch, and stay positive.
