I think the coachability stuff is overblown and mostly tied to his dad. I'm hopeful that as a pro he'll tell his dad to back off.
I think he's got a lot of game but not the game he was asked to play at EMU. He's not good enough passing or court vision wise to just have the ball every possession. And most of that team was all to eager to stand still waiting for him to do something. That jumper is going to play if he learns to play without the ball, which he will absolutely have to do to see time in Cleveland with 2 ball dominant guards on the court.
He'll be on the court as soon as he embraces defensive effort. If not he'll waste away in the Gleague. I'm not sure Gleague is best for his development though, he needs to play his role and stop trying (and being forced to) live up to his early hype. I don't see a future point forward at all, but as a wing catch and shoot guy I see a ton of potential.
Emoni Bates....
Re: Emoni Bates....
Exactly…he needs to be able to hang on the defensive end and be an off ball wing who can knock down jumpers and occasionally create his own shot. If he can commit to changing his game and play hard every night he could be a steal. Time will tell.hammb wrote: ↑Fri Jun 23, 2023 2:10 pm I think the coachability stuff is overblown and mostly tied to his dad. I'm hopeful that as a pro he'll tell his dad to back off.
