vs. WMU (1/20)

Post by mbenecke »

On Saturday, January 20, our Falcons (13-4 overall, 4-1 MAC) will host the Western Michigan Broncos (7-10 overall, 4-1 MAC) in a big time conference tilt. It’s Alumni Day, it’s the Bill Frack Game, and they’re honoring the 08-09 MAC championship team, as well. Really hoping for a good crowd to help BG snag a win.

Game starts at 2:00pm, and it’ll be streaming on ESPN+.

WMU pulled in a monster transfer this year with Javonte Brown. He's an athletic 7-footer who started his career at UConn before transferring to Texas A&M. He was allegedly paid a hefty sum (NIL) to go to Kalamazoo. He's been coming off the bench but is their 2nd leading scorer and rebounder. He's a load.

CMU beat Toledo last night, so the winner of this game will be tied for 2nd in the MAC. Huge opportunity today.

Agreed and Kent lost again last night. They haven't looked great but I'd like to be up 3 games over them in 2nd

Sleepwalking to start this one. Need to find a bucket and get some energy and confidence.

It’s 7-1 WMU at the U-16 media timeout.

We were down 16-3 early, but we’ve climbed out of the hole and lead 29-27 just before halftime. Much better effort there.

BG leads 39-31 at halftime. Humphrey dunk and a stop on defense gives us a ton of momentum.

Side note, I love how Simon leans into the crowd noise. When you can feel the crowd getting into it, he feeds into it and asks for more, and the team gets momentum from it. Very cool to see.

BG got up 10, but WMU responded with a 7-0 run.

Falcons lead 43-40.

I love Agee’s work and energy but he needs to give the ball up and allow the offense to flow. Too many turnovers and bad shots.

Greer looking fantastic these last few minutes. Fake outs and blow byes. Passes in the perfect spot for a teammate to get an easy hoop. Abusing defenders into stupid fouls.

Damn this is good stuff for a freshman. It's a good few minutes for ANYBODY.

Agee is pressing a bit today. Defense is better because he is no longer dead set on blocking everything. Been messing with people WITHOUT jumping. Which leads to fewer fouls and more rebounds.

But offense..... Man he's pressing.

BG wins 84-79. Feed cut out with 15 seconds left, so that was weird.

But huge, huge result.

This team is fantastic and can absolutely win the MAC.

Greer's ceiling is NBA. He's so raw but he's got an NBA body and athleticism.
Hill is amazing around the basket. An artist.
Agee is just fun to watch. Hes a banger.
Thomas has settled everything so well and he can shoot.

Great team. Very well coached. 12-1 over last 13 games.

Another win, which is nice even with the feed cutting out. Nice work from Greer and yes, Agee looked to be tying to force too much on the offensive end but fun to watch each game.
