MAC Transfer Portal
MAC Transfer Portal
Starting this thread because it's inevitable we'll have a defection or two, and we're starting to see a large number across the conference and country at this point already.
Some of the notables already in the portal from MAC schools:
Tyson Acuff, Eastern Michigan
Reggie Bass, Kent State (was MAC freshman of the year at CMU last season...the unlimited transfer rule is rearing it's ugly head)
WMU's De La Cruz Monegro and Hubbard
NIU's number 2 and 3 scorers, Amos & Nutter
Central Michigan has five players in the portal, including Harding and Butler, making up a whole lot of their scoring
Every other school that isn't playing any postseason game has at least one player in the portal from what I can find, mostly role or bench players.
Expanding to Ohio overall, Wright State, Dayton and Youngstown State all have interesting entries into the portal, as well.

Re: MAC Transfer Portal
Add Toledo's Tyler Cochran to the list. Really talented guard and their #3 scorer this season.

Re: MAC Transfer Portal
MAC DPOY this year, as well. Averaged 14.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game. Huge loss.
Weirdly, he’s played at 3 different MAC schools in his career. 2 years at NIU, 1 year at Ball State, 2 years at Toledo. Looking for his 4th school in 6 years.

How in the world does Cochran still have eligibility left?
Re: MAC Transfer Portal
COVID year plus a medical redshirt, but I also had to do a double take that it was the same Tyler Cochran.

Re: MAC Transfer Portal
Cochran needs to find one last MAC team to finish with.
Re: MAC Transfer Portal
Ra'Heim Moss from Toledo in the portal. Second leading scorer. I'm guessing he's going to get several P5 opportunities.

Re: MAC Transfer Portal
Wonder if we need a new rule that limits a player to 1 transfer during his career.

This is the landscape so get used to it. No going back now. I like the coach we have to navigate this.
Re: MAC Transfer Portal
I hate playing against Cochran so hopefully he goes outside the Mac or comes here
Re: MAC Transfer Portal
Jalen Sullinger is in from Kent.

Re: MAC Transfer Portal
Orange and Brown Twitter reporting that EJ Greer in the portal.
Re: MAC Transfer Portal
Greer was WAY more raw than I expected him to be. I still wanted to keep him around because there were times you could tell he could be a real player here. Adding a HS player with his talent in an abbreviated recruiting season felt like a coup, but now he's likely moving on.
And the spots will start opening up quickly. Sucks to lose one of the handful of guys I really wanted to keep.

Re: MAC Transfer Portal
I don't think he will be back. I think he has a lot of people in his ear telling him he is better than he is. Plus it may have been his plan to be "one and done" anyway? What a crazy landscape this is.fredthefalcon wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2024 1:03 pm Orange and Brown Twitter reporting that EJ Greer in the portal.
Re: MAC Transfer Portal
Sucks about Greer because I think if he adds muscle weight he can be a very good starter for us. Kid can't play basketball at this level if he's 6'8 170 though
