It is going to be very tough to get a Juco kid in here that meets eligibility requirements. The NCAA toughened those standards last year and they are tight. If DD is looking for a Juco, he is going to be looking at an awful lot of them because we have to find one that is going to be almost perfect if they are to be eligible.

DD said we did have 4 kids coming in...and mentioned all the LOI kids, so that would probably mean that the Fitch thing has cost him a scholarship. I didn't ask the question specifically because I know that DD was very close to Fitch, and to be honest, it's really none of OUR business...but the fact that he DID say he's got 2 to give would lead me to believe that G.F.'s schol. is no longer in effect.BG EV wrote:Where would Fitch fit in this scenerio? Couldn't that explain the extra opening?

As far as eligibility requirements go for JUCO kids, if they didn't qualify for the NCAA coming out of high school, they have to graduate from their JUCO, but if they are a qualifier, than they are eligible to go wherever they want to when they want to. So it really isn't that hard to get a sophmore that is eligible at the NCAA level. The only question is if they are a qualifier or non qualifier, and if they are going to graduate if not. I think that getting a JUCO kid that can step in and help out right away is something that is needed for next year, based upon what I have heard from the fans that really know what's going on up there.
After discussing and googling with Hammb, Quantez Robinson a prep point guard out of North Carolina that is featured on theInsiders.com looks to be a guy who could make an immediate impact.
Michael Hall, a combo guard from Troy who can flat out light it up is also being mentioned as interested in us. Hall would be a nice pick up as well.
The player that has me intrigued is Jerome Tillman from Beavercreek. Tillman is listed on theInsiders at 6-5/210 lbs, but is a lot closer to 6-6/230. He looks and plays like a brick sh*thouse. He almost single-handedly guided the undermanned Beavers past the Devil (Cincy Moeller) in the district final. This year, he has scored more points than the opponent 3 times. He is a hard-working, very athletic guy. I described him to Hammb as having "Germain Fitch" type athleticism. If we are losing Fitch and I think that is completely fair, than we should be replacing him with a guy who matches his athleticism and could play multiple frontcourt positions.
This Dayton duo would go a long ways in patching the holes in the roster next season.

Wow. I would love to get Mike Hall, and it has only a little bit to do with the fact that he's from my hometown. I haven't seen him play since his sophomore season, but I was really impressed with him then. He's a great perimeter shooter, but he was also aggressive and willing to drive the lane. What impressed me the most, though, was how well he saw the floor and dished the ball. He was much better at this than I expected for a high school player, especially a sophomore. He'd be a good get for us.

Do you know if Tillman is considering BG? I've googled him, and there's not much out there. What I have seen sounds terrific. If we sign him and Robinson, we'll be in as good as shape as we could expect. (...although I'm still holding out hope that Hobson will come back from the CC.)
Tillman has offers from:
"George Washington, Ohio University, Miami University, Wright State, Drake University, Lehigh University, University of Evansville, University of North Carolina-Wilmington, and the University of Hartford in Connecticut."

Bruce Pearl of UW-Milwaukee fame was introduced today as the new head coach of Tennessee. I don't know if that re-opens the Ryan Childress door at Cincinnati Moeller or not. Childress is a definite 6'7", might actually be th 6'8" they list him as and definitely has the body to play on the low block. He had a sub-par state tournament, but looked to be the best of what Moeller offered. Not a "typical" Moeller team though this year. Usually Childress would have as many as 3 or 4 other D-1 running mates alongside and the only other one that I am aware of is Tyler Dierkers who did nothing to impress anyone at the state tournament. Dierkers played rather unemotional and passive. He is headed to Miami.
Here's a guy JJHuddle links us to
Kyle Gillette from Loudonville. 6'8, maybe 230-240. Definitely PF material. Getting looks from BG and possibly UC and Kentucky.

They list him at 6'8"- I would guess he weighs around 240-250.
