Atleast he was able to catch up on his sleep during his "week off". I have never been a fan of Cummins. The Dakich thing a few years ago and some other instances I have heard of about him have turned me off to him. The Powers Pack is way better

The article didn't tell the whole story. In the morning segment they went live to him but he didn't know he was on air. When they went to him live he was messing around getting ready for what he was going to say. They quickly went to a commercial break. Needless to say when he found out he was live on air and looked like an idiot he wasn't too pleased. When they did the second live shot coming back from the commercial break he was already frustrated. Add on top of that coming back from the break he didn't have audio running in his ear. So when he was doing the play-by-play he wasn't in synch with the clip running which is frustrating to say the least. The whole ordeal was unprofessional and made him look like an idiot. So it wasn't entirely his fault.

That really is crap to expect a live report at 6am from someone that was working through the 11 the night before. Doesn't excuse being a prick on air or whatever he did, but producers need to get their noses out of the air some times. I'm rarely one to defend reporters at all, but if it were a noon show, I could see it. 6am? Never.

The funny one is the last segment of that article that refers to the "longtime assignment editor", that's been there since 1997. 8 years is "longtime"? For someone behind the scenes, that's nothing. In fact, while it might not have been at one station, I think I'm creeping up on a pension!

(Rob) Powers said he has done quick-turnaround live shots (11 p.m./6 a.m.) before, but only for high-profile events such as the Ohio State-Michigan football game and the Fiesta Bowl. Doing one on the morning of March 11 “never came up” in discussions at his station, Powers said.
Yet another esample of how the Toledo media outlet is biased towards the University of Terds. If we can't even get our local media to give use some respectful coverage, how do we expect the national media to.

The media caters to what will get them ratings. In this area there are a lot more people that care about the UM-OSU game than anything that has ever gone on with BGSU or UT. It sucks, but its reality.

When the people will tune it at 6:00 AM for something special with BG -vs- UT then the media will offer that.

This quote shows no bias what so ever towards UT. Both of their men's and women's teams were eliminated from the MAC tournament at this time and only the BG women's team remained in the MAC tournament. If anything, it would show a bias towards covering BG women's hoops. But really what it shows, is that Toledo area news is only willing to do this kind of "live" turnaround for tOSU (Fiesta Bowl and OSU-UM game). If anything, it shows bias yet again in favor of the Big10 and slanders the MAC as a little red-head step-child not worthy of such a live turnaround coverage. It shows a lack of respect again for ALL northwest Ohio sports. They have never done this thing for the MCB or GMAC bowls for either UT or BG. And when they do, Mr. Cummins gets up on the wrong-side of the bed because he had to be up so early in the morning. That's what chaps me about this quote and "angry" newscast. We (BG, UT and the MAC) are not deserving enough of the "quick-turnaround."

Their chopper used to capture high school football highlights during the fall is the sworn enemy of birds across Northwest Ohio.

danny was out the night before

i can attest to the fact that cummins was at a bar, nick's sports place, in cleveland after the games on thursday around 11:30 or midnight. he was sitting at the table behind ours with either a producer or camerman, and, i fnot for my dining companion, i couldlook straight at his face. cummins had two beers sitting in front of him, and his companion had one while they were eating. i asked him if they were going back to toledo that night, and he said that no, they'd be staying overnight in cleveland to cover friday's game.
