Not enough games to tell exactly what we have but one thing for sure is we are longer. The length, athleticism and hustle stands out so far. It’s not a high bar to be better than last year but so far it looks much better. We even had a lot of assists in this game which never happened last year.

This is easily the most encouraged I've been after game 1 in years. Even before the opening tip when the starters hit the court it was obvious that we are finally trotting out a team full of guys that just LOOK like D1 basketball players. That hasn't happened in a very long time.

The beginning of the game was Rocky, and no doubt when teams get in our business we will probably still be susceptible to some scoring droughts but we showed more want to on defense tonight than we ever did last season. Probably since the early Huger days. Texas St. may stink, they certainly couldn't shoot even when they had good looks but we forced them into a ton of mistakes by being active, aggressive, and flat wanting it more.

A team of long athletes willing to bust ass will go a long way in this conference. Campbell looked great as a true PG and the others played well off him. Wol looks like an August steal, even knowing he won't shoot that well again, he looks the part. Glover was real nice in the paint too when he actually caught the ball.

16 assists, I'll take that.

Great win, this squad looks like they're going to be fun. We've got 3 super-athletic bigs, 4 athletic wings that can score... AND An All-MAC point guard!

Holding your opponents to 19 points while only committing 3 turnovers in the 2nd half is a pretty good recipe for success. Looks like we'll run an 8 man rotation with Wol, Ruffin and Leach coming off the bench (though i can see Wol starting by year end), and Goins and Kimbrough sprinkling in some minutes
LONG LIVE THE MONGOOSE!!

43-19 2nd half. Very pleased that they didn’t run out of gas after a strong first half effort.

How refreshing is it to have a team that fights hard and competes the entire game?

Texas State never lead in the game. That doesn't often happen against D! schools. The first 7 minutes of the game was brutal to watch. Total dominance the rest of the game. To get Wol that late in the transfer portal was a very nice get.

Didn't look hurt while attempting (and failing) between the legs dunks and other antics during pre-game.

To me, unless he's a 45% 3point shooter riding the pine, I don't see a guy that deserves minutes in this rotation. Could've gotten him off the bench late in this one (students were even chanting, "We want pardon!"), but he's not going to play when it matters. I suspect last night was more about getting work in for those that are expected to play a role.

Hopefully we can completely empty the bench against Bethany on Thursday. Despise that we're playing the game, but it is a chance to get him, Maxamud, Adem, and others more minutes.

Encouraging first game. Seems if this group can play with intentional effort on defense for 40 minutes, they may have something.

This team looked and played the way I envisioned a Simon team when he had his initial press conference. Exciting first game as a fan and love seeing us step on the neck of a team we're beating

Seriously though how was Wol available so late?

I thought they cleared the bench based on the boxscore

Wol was probably NIL and a fit thing. Was with Bradley for a short time in the summer and left. I'm assuming the same NIL that was intended for Khayat became available when he went pro. Fortunate part was they play the same type of position and had same representation.

This makes sense. Also, I liked Khayat, but Wol seems a bit more skilled and fits the style a bit more. I think he will really elevate the team.

I have no idea what to expect this season but a 35 point win in the opener is never a bad thing. And against a Div 1 school.
