I predict a spread of BG by 6.5 pts
Re: vs. Western Michigan (2/24)
Line opens at -13.5.
The computers see us at the level of Kent State, i.e. the 3rd or 4th best team in the MAC. Frankly that's where I see us too.
If we win our final 3 and win to get us to Friday night in Cleveland and at least give Miami or Akron hell that night, that gives us a 20 win season and Simon two MAC semis appearances in 3 years.
Not the ultimate goal but I'd call it progress, no?

LONG LIVE THE MONGOOSE!!
Re: vs. Western Michigan (2/24)
Hard to argue it’s not progress. Especially because the middle year (last season) we were ridiculously injured, or it’s possible he does it 3 years in a row.
I think Simon is absolutely an upgrade over Huger’s second half of his tenure. There are things to nitpick, and I still question if he’ll put together a championship level roster here. But man… they still have a shot to have a pretty solid season with a strong finish. If we could ever figure out how to not have to turn over 12 spots on the roster every year (the answer is NIL money), maybe we could build something more. It’s so hard to just completely reset every single year and win, but he’s done it about as well as I could expect given the way the top of the league invests in basketball.

I can’t watch the game but I just saw the box score. Are we seriously getting whooped by Western? Are we not playing any defense?
Re: vs. Western Michigan (2/24)
No, no we are not.
These rotations at times make no sense. Ruffin is shooting FTs with 5s left and we don't sub Wol out for defense? He falls down and let's them go the length of the court for a layup...smh

Wol should have been able to do better than that, that wasn’t a tough assignment. We need him going forward and that includes simply making a ball handler work to get to go the length of the court.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.

Sure. He fell down.FalconTurf wrote: ↑Tue Feb 24, 2026 7:58 pmWol should have been able to do better than that, that wasn’t a tough assignment. We need him going forward and that includes simply making a ball handler work to get to go the length of the court.
I love Wol and usually complain he doesn't play enough. But why play your weakest defender in that situation. Makes no sense.
And we continue to switch ourselves out of any chance of success defensively this half.
Apparently somebody on the staff thinks it's fun to watch Glover guard their PG while Campbell and Shackledord guard the post.

Down 8 with 6 minutes to go against one of the worst teams in the MAC. This would be a bad, bad loss at home.

I walked out with 8 min to go.
On paper the team should be better than their record shows. But Simon can't coach them; flat footed defense, no half court offense, horrible game management.
At least before I could come to hear the band with Huger's bad years. Entertainment value is 0. Empty stands and empty student section. I won't make the mistake of season tickets again.

I can't believe these low-T slackhammers or down by 7 at home going down the stretch.
Then again, I can.
Leach showed flashes of athleticism and aggressiveness tonight.
Karel looks like a skinny-armed, broccoli-haired Nancy-boy.

Re: vs. Western Michigan (2/24)
After tonight, who cares if this team goes to the MAC tournament? They will faceplant. What a dull, mediocre offering for a team. No fire, cohesion, or grit.
