Inexcusable loss, and I’ll probably tune out the rest of the season now. Just sad. They should be so much better than they are.

Expect nothing less. No reason to invest in this program when its rinse and repeat every year. Even worse now with the portal.

They weren’t winning the MAC with a win over Western Michigan, they still aren’t winning the MAC with a loss.

They weren’t going to be investing additional money into men’s basketball with a win over Western Michigan, they won’t be investing more money in men’s basketball after losing. They don’t have money to invest in anything.

Good question that nobody has ever been able to answer. My guess is more shoes, higher salaries and more staff, planes to Northern Illinois, Buffalo, and now UMass. And the rest probably to the big pot of athletics.

We know it did not go to elevating the non conference schedule as intended. It’s merely wear an orange jacket, take a photo at a MAC game, and keep moving.

If I remember correctly, it was an endowment, so the questions are "what are they doing with it?" and "what will they do with it?" If it was $10mm, then it should have an annual spend between $400k-500k, which frankly doesn't go as far as it used to, even ten years ago. I'm guessing they basically just put it all towards coaching salaries and equipment, and there isn't enough left over to have any kind of impact on scheduling or recruitment. I'm positive the Frack family is still receiving annual impact reports that detail the spending, so I would guess if they were super upset with the usage, we would know.

Let's do that again on the Frack endowment. If it was 10 million and you draw 4% a year, you still should have 400 thousand and not touch the 10 million, but it was 20 million in 2014. Where is the forensic audit of that money? Politely, BG has Pis^h^h^hUrinated a lot of money away in the last 12 years since Frack's death and it seems that the Frack vision is a pipe dream.

From an article by Briggs in the Toledo Blade:
In a donor agreement outlining his wishes, the first directive listed states: “Enhance team and conference competition and enhance local and national visibility by entering into a guaranteed contract or contracts to purchase or otherwise secure ... basketball games with nationally visible competitive teams which may require large monetary incentives to travel to BGSU.”

Somewhere there's about $800K sitting around to help pay for a top tier team to come to BG. I guess a 24 game winning streak would have to be the next chance to do it :-)

https://www.bgsu.edu/content/dam/pdfs/f ... 7-2025.pdf

On page 33 of the current budget it’s included as part of Falcon Club/Foundation/Enhancements

On page 34 of the current budget the Frack endowment increase is referenced in item 2.

That’s all part of a 7 million dollar deficit and that’s before they have to really “pay” the players. When money is really tight contract salaries increases by 700k or 7.8% knowing what is coming down the road. Also, travel and professional development expenses increased by 1.7 million or 48%. Page 34 (10) references post season travel expenses. I’m not sure what team they were expecting to need to travel in the post season. 1.7 million for a meaningless bowl game they didn’t make?

So the Frack money increased enough to make the Frack game a Friday night vs Akron, when the students were still on break.

The reality is most people have no clue that the athletic department lost over 3.5 million in 2025 and are projected to lose over 7 million in 2026. It’s not sustainable. Without major changes most schools will either need to scale back their programs or put the added cost on the backs of the students.

Inexcusable loss, but watching Western take Miami to the wire made me feel a little better about it. Not a ton, but a little.
