Golf outing
That's the biggest thing. Like BGorDeath said, Norm's voice grates on me. I just don't like the sound of it.kslates wrote:Plus, they don't have very solid arguments and at times are not very knowledgable at all
But their incomprehensible arguments are ludicrous. For guys running a sports show I don't find them that knowledgeable either. There have been a number of times that I've called in to correct what they were saying or whatnot. They're sitting, usually, in a studio, they cannot double check their facts on the internet?
If Norm is talking about baseball I value his opinion, he's pretty into baseball, and has a good idea what he's talking about. Other than that I think your average fan has a better idea what's going on than they do.
I just don't care for their show; I listen, but I don't care for it.
I couldn't agree more. Norm knows his baseball and even boxing (I think he knows boxing. He sounds like he does and since I have no idea when it comes to boxing I can't criticize him there) but when it comes to anything else, I just shake my head when they talk. It is a shame that we are forced to listen to that because there is nothing else on.hammb wrote:That's the biggest thing. Like BGorDeath said, Norm's voice grates on me. They are too damn agreeable. You could go on there and say the sky is green, the sun rose in the West and you no longer have to pay taxes and they would say "Yes, that is correct." For cryin' out loud, you don't have to agree with everything any idiot caller has to say. It is like they only have two listeners and they don't want to upset either one when they call in.

I have to disagree with you on this one.kslates wrote:It is a shame that we are forced to listen to that because there is nothing else on.
Listen to 700 WLW at 4:00 PM (eastern-time). For those of you that think there is no 700 on the radio dial, you'll need to flip that little switch on the side of yer transistor radio from FM to AM - sorry Grant, I don't think you can get them on XM.
They play "Sports or Consequences" for the first half hour, sometimes they'll go for the entire hour. Some of you may have seen Rob Ervin ('89) post on here a few times. Rob tries to play Falcon Fight Song every now and then on the air.
And these guys don't mess around. 8)

I find the whole "lets play trivia" idea interesting, yet annoying when they start throwing out 500 guesses and ask for 100 hints. But I did catch the BG fight song on there one day, so I make a point to listen if I remember.transfer2BGSU wrote: They play "Sports or Consequences" for the first half hour, sometimes they'll go for the entire hour. As much as I enjoy Gary Burbank, the 50000000 guesses they take to get the answer is pretty weak. Sometimes they seem like they are pretty much saying "what's the answer" then "we don't, we don't, we don't mess around, hey". Amusing at times, but gets kind of old.

and the "we don't mess around thing" was annoying when one of those Toledo FM morning show schmucks did it in the late 80's...BGorDeath wrote:As much as I enjoy Gary Burbank, the 50000000 guesses they take to get the answer is pretty weak. Wasn't Mark Benson part of the WIOT morning team back in the late 80's and early 90's? He played the straight man to the other guy. Can't remember his name. They weren't too bad, before the world was introduced to Bob and Tom. If its the same guy, its kind of a shame it came to this for him.
