Sullivan Out Until Next Year- per Dakich on Coach's Show

Post by Dayons_Den »

Coach D just said Sullivan is out until next year in a very candid comment saying that "I would bet my life if he was at a Big 10 school he wouldn't have been found ineligable by the NCAA".

I'm not sure if that means he is done for this season or for this calander year as he just said he is "out until next year"

I really like Coach's candidness and honesty on calling out the NCAA.

I'm pretty sure elgibility is determined by semester, not school year.

Didn't see it mentioned here, but in Dakich's quotes on the official site, he went into a little more than that solid jab at the big boys...
What is Lionel Sullivan's Status?

"The NCAA ruled that (Lionel) was ineligible, and we've appealed that to where he is getting his full grant-in-aid, and he was able to practice while we were appealing it, and just before we left last week, they denied his appeal but gave him scholarship money, so we are going back and further appealing and asking he be allowed to practice. In the long run, it's going to end up really well for Lionel, its going be a redshirt year. In the short run we could have really used him the other day, I mean all weekend we could have really used him, but..."

Is anyone else sick of the "Us(meaning basically Dakich) versus the world routine" ???

If it's not officiating, then its scheduling, b/c we all know what a problem he has had in the last 3-4 years especially since you know we've tried to schedule Duke and Texas and they won't play us, despite our Jekyl and Hyde show on the road. Now it's the entire NCAA costing us a recruit.

When is the dog and pony sympathy show going to end? Once again, apparently St. Martin DePorres can't provide OUR STAFF with information on Sullivan's eligibility and Brian Moten just magically can't get into Virginia and we wonder why he's not eligible either?

We don't have the roster spots or the depth to recruit someone who is even questionable, when fully-qualified, capable athletes are out there.

That comment on the "Coach's Show" is one of the more inexcusable attempts to bring logic to a program that has managed to get worse over the same time period in question.

Funny thing. Over the summer, I was having visions of a full roster for once. When was the last time we had full roster, or even 10 available scholarship players? Currently, we're at 9 scholarship players. Thank God our walk-ons are decent. (Option, that was your segue to point out that we shouldn't EVER be down to depending walk-on for depth, especially this early in the year.)

The hardcore cynic in me finds it very easy to buy DD's Big-10 comment. It doesn't hurt that he played and coached there. Insight from first hand experience.

This is very disappointing news....I was really looking forward to seeing Sullivan out there for us this year. This is a blow to an already very, very young team. He could have really helped us. Whatever the case, I hope he can get things cleared up and that he can enjoy a great career at BG.
