Re: Recruiting 2023-2024 The Simon Era
Someone will correct me if I'm wrong (I'm sure) but don't both of these transfers have two seasons of eligibility remaining: their senior years and the Covid year?
By the way, Thomas has what I would call a shooter's touch on the ball. Maybe that's what Simon sees, too, and figures he can do much more when he's at BG.

I’m pretty sure this is the remaining eligibility for each transfer:
PJ Edwards - 3
Jason Spurgin - 2
Trey Thomas - 2
PJ Edwards - 3

And he’s Canadian. I think this is the most international roster we’ve ever had. I can’t remember ever having more than one foreign player on the roster. Crespo, Radivojevic, Kulackovskis, Diarra. All loners I think.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking as well. It's obvious to me that Simon is looking for some experience/depth AND wants guys who'll be here more than one season, so there's a chance they can develop and then help this program leap forward in one more season.

G- Edwards
G/F- Curtis/ McCombs
F- Agee/ Felt

For the 3rd or 4th time, counting Lightfoot and Curtis on the team next year’s team is a mistake. They are history.

No need to respond that way. No one has said this definitively yet.notkithughes wrote: ↑Fri Apr 28, 2023 8:21 amFor the 3rd or 4th time, counting Lightfoot and Curtis on the team next year’s team is a mistake. They are history.

Take Leon Ayers. He was highly inefficient at both of his stops prior to BG. At BG, his shooting percentages were strong across the board.
(The fact that he disappeared late in the season is a separate issue.)

I think Lightfoot will need to work on his academics to stay with the Falcons. I hope he does. Guard depth is important in the MAC
Re: Recruiting 2023-2024 The Simon Era
Wow, we could have potentially 6 MORE new guys . . .
There was another guy from Southern Utah and mentioned BG (among others) reached out.
Dee Barnes 6'4" Senior on the roster page from Maryland, but transferred to Southern Utah from Mt. St. Mary's

DaJion Humphrey (6’4 guard from Detroit) has committed to BG. He spent 2 seasons at Holy Cross and then transferred to Garden City CC, where he averaged 17 points and shot 44% from three.

He looks good. Nice shot from 3, can drive and pull up from midrange or finish at the rim. It looks like Edwards is more of a PG while this guy and Thomas will be off the ball more.
