I don't care what anyone says Mark Price was a great player. The best free throw shooter ever. He was undersized and beat on every game and was still one of the best jump shooters in the last 20 years. He could actually make shots inside the 3 point line, something that is pretty much extinct for players that shoot 3's now.OSUFALCON wrote:Good not Great, as was Larry Nance and Ron Harper. Austin Carr another good one.kdog27 wrote:Mark Price and Brad Daugherty
Had Brad Daugherty not had disc surgery to end his career he could easily be penciled in as great..

Joe Charbonics had unprotected sex with a stripper...his syphillis killed her chlamydia and cured her of her chronic halitosis.BGorDeath wrote:Joe Charbaneuax once flossed the teeth of a great white shark while wearing a Speedo.Flipper wrote:Joe Charbonnaueuauaue once killed a bear simply by spitting on it....BGorDeath wrote:Joe Charbeneau (or however you spell it). He removed a tattoo with a razor blade and could open a beer bottle with his eye socket. That makes him great in my book.

carter wasn't unrespected in cleveland. in fact, when he was traded to the padres, which was just after he had just opened a restaurant in cleveland, there was a lot of uproar in the community regarding his departure (he was seen as about all that the tribe had at that point). in the long run, in spite of carter's world series homer, i think that cleveland ended up better off, picking up sandy alomar, jr. and carlos baerga in the deal.Dayons_Den wrote: Joe Carter along with Julio Franco are a couple of guys that got ZERO respect in Cleveland but once they moved on they were correctly recognized. Franco was a solid hitter batting for average and enough power to be considered for MVP voting but since he played in Cleveland. . . you know the rest.
To me, the hall of fame recognizes greatness. And even then, I have problem with some of the players that have been voted into their respective halls of fame lately.
Having said that, I think names like Thome, Belle, Price, Mathews, Kosar and others are not Hall of Fame material in my book. Very good and productive players...but not great!
I loved Price, Mathews and others for they way they played the game. I'd take them on my team anyday. I just think we have way too many guys getting into their respective halls of fame.
I think the LPGA has it right. They have a formula on tournaments won, plus majors won that makes them eligible for their hall.

He's the reason I'm a Rangers fan. I think in addition to the playing in Cleveland thing, he was a bit of a defensive liability and hit into alot of DP's, but you're probably more right about the Cleveland thing re: MVP voting.
When Franco was traded to Texas, I became a Rangers fan, but still had an interest in the Indians. When they traded Joe Carter, I was pretty much done with Cleveland altogether. (When they moved into Jacobs Field, I think that was it for me completely.)

I meant that those players got no respect from the national media while the players were in Cleveland unis and then they move on and are regarded as great. We (Cleveland fans/Clevelanders) knew all along they were great.jacojdm wrote:carter wasn't unrespected in cleveland. in fact, when he was traded to the padres, which was just after he had just opened a restaurant in cleveland, there was a lot of uproar in the community regarding his departure (he was seen as about all that the tribe had at that point). in the long run, in spite of carter's world series homer, i think that cleveland ended up better off, picking up sandy alomar, jr. and carlos baerga in the deal.Dayons_Den wrote: Joe Carter along with Julio Franco are a couple of guys that got ZERO respect in Cleveland but once they moved on they were correctly recognized.
