Stellar defense? Are we talking about the same guy here? I'm talking about Moon Robinson, the five-foot-nothing guy who probably anyone on this board could shoot over the top of sitting down in a chair. He might run well on defense, I'll give him that, but to say his defense is stellar is way too far fetched. Yes, he moves his feet well, but he can't shoot, he can't score, he can’t distribute the ball and he sure as hell isn't a tenth of the player you tried replacing him with. How this guy is a D-I scholarship player is beyond me. I’m willing to bet you have guys who are better than him on campus who are playing for fun at your rec center.Flipper wrote:This is why you're a dope...you completely ignore the stellar defense Robinson plays to focus on his offense. Do I want Moon taking the last shot? no. Do I want Moon on my tream to shut down a hot guard on the other team? Hell yes...

Can we take guys off the football team to fill that rec center team? I've said all year that I think I can find 5 guys from the football team that would beat our basketball team in a game. If you're limiting it to no scholarship athletes you'll probably be hardpressed to find someone, but you may.OhioBobcat wrote:How this guy is a D-I scholarship player is beyond me. Moon does play really good defense though. People can shoot over him, of course, due to his height, but that hasn't seemed to be that much of a problem. Our defense is generally much better with Moon in the game. Saturday was a pretty good example. Our defense got a lot better with Moon out there than it was when he was on the bench.

Foul
On Moon's layup, yeah he jumped in the air and tried to draw the foul but the defender left his feet and got moon with the body. It's took me about 10 years for me to understand a foul being called when it was great defense and the reason is "he got him with the body". So that was a foul, moon shoots 2. And they were calling every little touch foul on us so shouldn't they call that one? The refs called fouls on us with the game on the line so if they did it for OU why not us? I agree with the thought of letting the players decide the game in final seconds but the officials didn't do that at the end of regulation or the first overtime so you gotta be consistent and make a call at the end of the 2nd OT as well.

Gotta disagree. You don't make that call at that point in the game...there may have been SOME contact, but not enough to warrant a foul, IMO. Much like you don't call offensive PI & touchy holding calls in the superbowl you don't call a touch foul on a drive with :02 left in a double OT game. Moon has to convert that.
I saw you were sitting in the student section while I was at the top on the opposite side. I would imagine you had a much better view on that last play than I did. From where I was, it looked like he got hammered. But I respect your info since you had the better view.

We definitely had our chances. It's a recurring theme with this team. They fall behind, bust their butts to get back in it, but just cannot complete the chances they have at the end. The KSU game still looks like the anomaly where they were able to consistently get big buckets to answer Kent and made a lot of FTs down the stretch (also had a couple big boards at the end of that one).
I sure hope that by tourney time we can start to consistently do the things that they did in the Kent game, if so we would be a real threat to any team in the tourney. As it is nobody wants to play us, I'm sure, but I cannot imagine they're real afraid of us either.

OK, that's just totally incoherent. I think you are trying to say Moon isn't as good as Ron Lewis? Right? Are you sure you are college educated? Nobody said Moon was a replacement for Ron Lewis. He might have gotten Ron's scholarship when he transfered last minunite, but I'm sure nobody thought he could "replace" Lewis.
Also, you ignored my question in another thread - where were all these O Zone students you were bringing with you? Where were you sitting and were you by yourself? Talk, talk, talk, all talk... Putz! Keep talking up that 4th place team!

Yeah, not that many O-Zoners made it to that game, there was about 10 of us which is about a quarter of the entire students turnout for BG that was there for your own home game! Your "student section" was filled with locals and young kids. You had like one row of students, and they were more busy stuffing their face with pizza than they were anything. The O-Zone gets 2,000 students alone for each of our home games, you guys get less than 2,000 spectators overall for a game! BG averages about 1,700 per game. That's a joke! So maybe the snow kept a lot of the O-Zone from making the 400 miles and 8 hour round trip drive like we did, I don't know. But what I do know is you won't have five BG students in attendance at the Convo when we wax you in a few weeks. You can't get students to come for a home game when it's free, you sure as hell aren't gonna get them to drive 400 miles and have them pay to see their team lose....AGAIN!JWEIII wrote:Also, you ignored my question in another thread - where were all these O Zone students you were bringing with you? 10! Very impressive! You have been beating your mouth over how great you guys travel and what loyal fans you have and... 10! Talk, talk, talk. I'll bet you there are more than 10 BG fans at the Athens game. What, did you all have to ride toegther or something? I know our attendance is bad, but I'm not on OU's board talking smack either. Talk, talk, talk. Very impressive showing, 4th-place fool.OhioBobcat wrote:

I don't know how in the world you could even try and make a dig about how many of us from the O-Zone traveled 400 miles for a road game against a piss-poor BG team when you get no one, and I mean no one, to come to your own home games. BG has the worst atmospheres for basketball in the MAC. I thought EMU was going to be the worst, but after making the trip up there a few weeks ago, I can't even put it that low. You call Anderson Arena the House the Roars? It's the House that Snores! You had one of the better atmospheres in the MAC and you’ve killed it with your bad teams, your transfers and the lack of exciting basketball that results in a poor product. The most excitement surrounding that program right now is to see how far you can get down by only to come back and choke in the end. The end result is always a loss. It's a terrible atmosphere there now, just pathetic, and it’s never been worse. You have a losing record at home with a few home games remaining and will likely finish with a losing record there for the season. When did that happen last? So if it makes you feel good that more of us didn’t come up for the game (which probably stems from your jealousy that we couldn’t help you increase your whopping attendance figure of like 2,100 for the game), then go ahead and enjoy it. But having a BG fan talk junk about attendance is flat out comical. You can’t even get people to watch your football team, let along your sorry basketball team. BG will never, ever win a MAC Tournament or get back to the NCAA Tournament again. You’ve got a high school arena, a worse-than high school atmosphere, no one at the school even cares let alone watches your team play, and you can’t keep players to stay there after giving them a scholarship for crying out loud. That is, except for “quality” players like Robinson, and he can’t play at all and only stays because he is thankful every day for the D-I scholarship that no other school in the country offered him that fell from the sky from BG.JWEIII wrote:10! I'll bet you would be hard pressed to find five guys that play with much heart on this years football team. You may find some talented football/basketball players but I saw few that played hard for a full 60 minutes. Why are we discussing beating ourself with are own team. How sick has this gotten. Let's jump off of AA together.hammb wrote:Can we take guys off the football team to fill that rec center team? Hey, stupid. Have you been paying attention? YOU were the one saying how great your fans are, not me. Blah, blah, blah ... O Zone... best fans... comming to BG... blah, blah blah. 10 "people." Way to back up that talk, Putz. I know our attendance stinks, but I'm not on OU's board bragging about our team or our fans. Get it?OhioBobcat wrote:

I know where they were - at home. OU has lost it's hype and they have been exposed as a middle-of-the road team that might, if they are lucky, get the #5 seed in the tournament and won't advance past the quarterfinals. And with that, your bandwagon fans are staying home.
But you keep talking, Putz.

With the foul that should have been called against Ohio I believe that it was a foul. I was watching ESPN today and the play was just like the Duke @ Boston College game. The BC player went up for the layup to either tie or win the game and Sheldon Williams put's his body on him and they win the game. To me, there should have been a foul on both Duke and Ohio. Granted I'm a Duke fan as well, I believe that some fouls should be called. I mean if a guy is getting knocked down then how can there not be a foul? Some officials need to get their heads out of their a__es and just worry about officiating the game. Sometimes it makes me sick.
Roll On!!!
