St. Daniel turned his back on $550K per year + endorsements. By now, if he would've managed his money correctly, he'd be set for life.
These are true words, you speak. He would have been set for life - financially. But at what cost?

Most of the times, it's more than the money.

I think DD and his wife really like BG, he told me once that BG really feels like home. As opposed to "Back home again in Indiana". This is much different than coach JL, he was always bigger and better than this town. Jim's wife was a real class act though. Jim's done well for himself at George Mason, that is his home.

Better than a sharp stick in the eye. Maybe Dakich doesn't regret not going..but I, along with 90% of the world, probably would in 20/20 hindsight.

Yeah, coach Lasagna had an aristocratic air about him. He never really "connected" with his players, either. He was/is a very decent guy, however. And he is definitely smarter than your average bear.

I heard that he scammed Columbia and BMG and amassed an amazing CD collection. He supplements his BB coach salary by selling CDs out of the trunk of his car.

While this is quite true, I must seriously wonder what it was about the WVU situation that drove him out. What was going on down there that was soooo objectionable?

I believe it was the lack of indoor plumbing.

Per the Uniform Commercial Code, if you guys were under 18 when you signed up for Columbia Records or BMG, then you were under no obligation to buy anything else after you got the first 11 for a penny. You were legally entitled to bamboozle them if they elected to try to enter a contractual agreement with a minor.
I can vouch for this. My brother must have (unintentionally) scammed every one of those companies. He signed up, freaked out and told my parents when they wanted him to pick up his end of the contract, and then my parents got to inform them that he was only 16/17. He's always been a con artist, even when he didn't mean to! :D
